Where have all the used Mark VIs and VIIs gone? There can't be that many tomato plants out there. From reading our board I would presume a lot are on the closet shelf or in the garage or on eBay. They seem to be a very controlled substance and a bit high.

I've asked about this before (on ARS and elsewhere).

If you ever get a MARK VIII please remove the cover and take a high-res digital pic of the parts side of the PCB so that I can read the part numbers/ identification. I'm curious about the design. (I am an embedded systems engineer.)

One bit of info... but no pics:

As far as I remember the church convinced EBay that the E-meter is a religious device. They stopped allowing it for sale on EBay.:duh:

That's over with; or was

they had hooked into an ebay system that allowed them to disallow other peoples' auctions based on a simple 'good faith' claim that the auction violated policy.

At least as of the last time I looked, that 'right' had been disallowed for cause.

Try selling an e-meter now. As far as I know, you can.

I take it that CST means Church of Spiritual Technology or something tax-exempt like that?

Geeez. How many agressive take overs have there been. There's been a pattern here. This is sure a fixed way of being for somebodyyyy.

And thanks for the informative link. Doubt I'll ever be able to sleuth my way into dismantling a Mark VIII while no one is looking though. Don't have the engineering skills.

With so many of us not using a meter any more I'd have hoped to pick one up at garage sale price...but Noooooooo!

I saw a newish Mark VII on eBay six months ago being sold in Australia. The seller was clear to note that he was not underselling the org but had bought an extra one for his wife and ....I don't remember the rest...

Right you are!

I'm trying to upload a grouped picture of all these meters I just now found on eBay. But I do not know how to manage attachments on this board. Help?

I've done a screen capture and saved it to my pictures. They are inexpensive!

Just searching ebay.com for "scientology meter" shows 3 Mark Vs, 1 VI, and 2 VIIs in current auctions. There may be others that don't have "meter" in the title - I didn't check.

And for a bit more data and pix on the new meter, search ESMB for "Phuctum", the surveyed new name. Well, it wasn't surveyed in the CofS. :).

Click on the paper-clip icon above the edit box, around the middle of the top line. Browse to your computer file and click upload.

PM me - I've been trying to get rid of our four (4) (!!) meters. 3 right-handed and 1 left. I'll even include some Standard hand cream for you.

Pretty interesting they keep updating the meter when they consider the real problem is the person reading the meter. As proven by the change of what an FN is.:whistling:

MONEY MONEY MONEY!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

I had a friend of mine who is a big Ebayer sell three for me on E-bay. All quantums, only 1 with a recent cert. I got between 1500 and 2K for each. No problems, no hassles, nothing. I decided to do it b

Used the money to take the family on vacation. It was great. I'm thinking of selling my library next. All basics, congresses, PDC's etc. I think it should be able to bring in about 37.50. Maybe enough to cover shipping.

Oops, mistakes:
I decided to do it before the new ones got released and any value dropped. I didn't plan to ever use them again anyways. Also, this was just within the last 2-3 months, so very current.

I didn't want to start a new thread just for this. It seems that the Mark VIII Phuctum has effectively been in use at Flag since 2002 or so. I recalled someone posting that it has been in use at Int, but not that it has been in use at FSO too.

Per http://www.scientology-cult.com/mark-viii-emeter-revealed.html:

The guts of every Mark Super VII Quantum E-meter in use by Flag auditors were secretly swapped out for the electronics of the Mark VIIIs. Ever since, Flag auditors have been using Mark VIIIs in the Mark VII shell.

Surely some people posting here have audited at Flag, using "org" meters. Did you know about this? Did you notice anything different about the meters?

When the local E\O handed me my declare a few years back, she asked for me to turn in my meter. I asked her if she was going to re-emburse me for it, and she said no, so I declined the "deal".

Lol.

What was that thing about having a bad sense of property?

I don't mean to be pedantic, but can this be moved to the "Scientology technology" section? It doesn't really belong here...

Although I don't have all details to hand, there are better meters not related to CO$ meters available NEW in the Freezone for less than $1000. A fair price.

I've seen at least four separate types or brands.

Some read out on your computer like below. Others are more traditional with an actual meter dial and controls.

The consensus of opinion is that they are better than CO$ meters and do some neat and useful tricks not available on the CO$ meters.

(Note: The person who did the most CO$ meter research blew his brains out a few years ago. Not sure why. He was a good guy, BTW.

A starting point:
http://www.cmeter.org/

Listing of most non-CO$ meters:
http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Scientology/Free_Zone/E-Meter/

Just get over the PR idea that the CO$ has the best meters. THEY DO NOT.
They may be the prettiest, so what else is new.

One I recall was much smaller than the CO$ meters, so travel would be much
easier.
