NANTERRE (AFP) - The raids were conducted last Thursday at two sites of Scientology in Paris in the investigation into the suicide of a follower in December 2006, it was learned Tuesday near the source file, confirming information Parisien.

According to this source, investigators from the Central Office for the Suppression of violence to persons (OCRVP), before a preliminary inquiry from the floor of Nanterre, wanted to get their hands on the facts of the case of Gloria Lopez, who had terminated his life to 47 years by being caught by a train at the station in Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine).

The research took place after the end of the trial for fraud in an organized gang that ran the Paris court where the prosecutor has requested the dissolution of the two main structures of French Scientology.

The first raid took place at the headquarters of Scientology, in the twelfth arrondissement of Paris. The second, which was the Celebrity Center (XVIIe arrondissement), a short shot, center officials have refused access to investigators, as allowed by the procedure in some cases preliminary investigations, said the source close to the case.

Gloria Lopez was a member of Scientology for about ten years when it was given the death. Suspicions of his family, who complained were born after the discovery at his home in letters and documents referring to all kinds of expenses and debts for the benefit of the movement.

"In view of these documents, it is obvious that Scientology took advantage of it and had defrauded. She was in debt from banks and had squandered an inheritance to buy the course in advance and climb in the hierarchy" , had told AFP in October 2008 her ex-husband, Pascal Le Berre.

Several relatives of Gloria Lopez were heard in this matter, including his two children.

Thank God.

Please let this be the first of many raids across the world in search of the evidence necessary to put these criminals behind bars.

Now who would want to raid a silly little church? Not like they would find anything like enough evidence to convict 11 members, reveal government infiltration, fair game activities such as operation snow white or operation freakout!

Oh but wait..scientology is not a church in France, it is a appropriately recognized cult! I hope they follow down all those invoices to the bottom and top of the money trail.

God, I am so angry at all the worldwide tragedy connected with this cult.

So glad to see the governments finally stepping in to protect their citizens.:happydance:

A moment of silence for Gloria Lopez.....

I can't believe it...I would be happy if it were not for the fact that another poor soul had to lose her life in order to bring attention to this heartless and manipulative cult.

My thoughts are with her family.

Scientology: searches in the investigation of a follower's suicide

NANTERRE (AFP) - Raids were conducted on June 18 at two sites of Scientology in Paris in the investigation of the suicide of a follower that happened in December 2006, it was learned Tuesday from a source close to the case, confirming information of Le Parisien.

According to this source, investigators from the central Office for the suppression of violence to individuals (OCRVP), before a preliminary inquiry from the court at Nanterre, wanted to obtain the facts in the case of Gloria Lopez, who had ended her life at 47 when she was hit by a train at the Colombes station (in Hauts-de-Seine).

The searches were made after the end of Scientology's trial for organized fraud in the Paris court, where the prosecutor asked for the dissolution of the two main organizations of French Scientology.

Contacted by AFP, a spokesperson for French Scientology, Danièle Gounord, said there was "nothing much to say" about the searches, while denouncing "a climate conducive to discrimination and the multiplication of all sorts of situations."

The first raid took place at the headquarters of Scientology in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. The second, at the Celebrity Center in the 17th arrondissement, was cut short when center officials refused access to investigators, which is permitted in some preliminary investigations, said the source close to the case.

Gloria Lopez was a member of Scientology for about ten years when she died. The suspicions of her family, who complained, arose after the discovery at her home of letters and documents referring to all sorts of expenses and debts for the benefit of the movement.

"In view of these documents, it is obvious that Scientology took advantage of her and committed fraud. She was in debt to banks, and had squandered an inheritance to buy courses in advance to rise in the hierarchy," said her ex-husband, Pascal Le Berre to AFP in October, 2008

Several relatives of Gloria Lopez were heard in the matter, including her two children.

In the case file is also a note from the earlier investigation, whose content was confirmed to AFP by a source close to the case, saying Ms. Lopez's relatives had been approached immediately after her death with an offer of a financial settlement against their agreement not to prosecute.

I think I saw on WWP that the raid didn't find any evidence or docs. And that the police said it looked as if there had been some 'housecleaning' done. (WWP would not work properly for me. Loading times long enough that I needed to shave between pageshifts.)

Ok, I could have told 'em that. 'Sensitive' docs about a suicide get's 'disappeared' at once. I'm surprized they didn't get to her home and cleaned that out too.. Something must have hindered 'em. Like police being there first..

But I do think that the docs exist. Probably sendt to the US..

I wouldn't be surprised if they found nothing, especially with a court case going on there.

I remember when I was on a mission in Munich, the way data on paper was handled was absurd, not to mention phone calls. And no suicides or court cases going on there at the time AFAIK, "just" the regular german investigation.

Hmmmm, which Org would "they" send dox to ?Uplines.. OSA HQ.. If the danger of a raid was imminent they'd shred it all.

My experince with it is decades old of course.. But at the Guardian's Office EU we had frequent 'raid drills'.. With a gang of our own people acting as police.. Some staff would argue and delay the 'police' any which way, while all of us grabbed any 'sensitive' docs and despatches and shredded 'em. We had a couple of shredding machines for the purpose, placed far back in the org where we reckoned we could keep the police away from the longest.

To do this any and all 'sensitive' docs and despatches were at all times marked and kept separate, so as to be easy to find in case of a raid...

We used a system of 'routing slips' on despatches. This was a little piece of paper with the 'routing' on it. Ie. The from (somebody) to (somebody).. This little piece of paper was then stabled to the despatch, so that noone could see who sendt it or to whom... These little routing slips was quickly torn off all despatches during a raid..

The routing slips was removed even during a drill. In seconds the floors of the GOEU was littered with routing slips.

In this case, where the suicide happened in 2006.. Well, OSA would have deemed the docs 'hypersensitive' same day back then. Anticipated a police investigation and prepared for it. Removal of evidence to someplace safe, shore stories and drilling of same.. Even 'removal' of people! - Staffers who had anything to do with it may have been assigned a post clear on the other side of the planet.
