It just seems strange that I can't find ANYTHING of merit in Hubbards works/writings; he wasn't even that good a science fiction writier as he plagerised all over the place.

I am not trying to offend former members, I want to hear your views on what made his writtings "believable" to you...

I personally always thought his writing blew ass, but I convinced myself I just wasn't understanding what he was laying out. Mainly I convinced myself to believe what he was writing because of how his well orchestrated con was marketed. When it comes to Scientology the vast majority of the effort always went into marketing the con in a way to make it believable and legitimate. The whole best seller author and meaningless award bullshit.

Prior to the Time article coming out in 1991 I had no way of knowing all of it was total bullshit, sure I was skeptical but I figured if even one ten of what he was claiming was true it would be worth looking into, and then you come to find out that none of it is true, it's just one big circle jerk ythat keeps you waiting for the next step just around the corner.
