View Full Version : Juliette Lewis on her big screen comeback

Here's a link to an article about Juliette Lewis. She credits the CoS for helping her beat her drug habit. I'm glad she's doing better, but not happy that she's promoting the CoS. I worked with her Mom for several months at Celebrity Center in Hollywood back around 1987 writing Letter Reg type letters, and enjoyed working with her. Hope they both join us here as regular members on ESMB! :coolwink:

WTF??? This skank is making a comeback? Comeback from what? Sorry, I think she had her 15 minutes of fame.

Comeback from what?

Her big screen comeback; she's been gone 5 years. I could tell that you didn't miss her too badly. :D

I've only seen a few of her movies. I liked her in "Cape Fear" with De Niro.

I like her dad who's been in many Clint Eastwood films and I talked to him for a bit at CC once which was kind of cool. The last time I saw him he was being lead around AOLA like he was in big trouble and he looked kind of dazed. But his daughter has turned into one revolting hollywood/scio biatch.

I was thinking of the same word but didn't want to be the first to use it here.

I try very hard, now that I'm out of the cult, not to be as judgmental or hateful as I used to be when I was in, but these self absorbed and pampered, pea brain celebs just bring out the very worst in me.

I'll say no more...

You all keep quiet now, I want to hear what her puddy pie has to say! I wonder if she can make it sing, she does have the mike down there. She can at least smoke cigarettes with it, I'm sure. I'd be real disapointed if all it did was pee, shtup, bleed, and make the usual squishy farty noises when air gets trapped inside.

I'm with you T.P.

Juliette Lewis may not be everyones cup of tea, however in some peoples eyes shes a legend and an artist who is out there doing her thing with Music & acting etc. Theres no need for that kind of talk Pete........

That picture is showing her at a rock concert being totally wild & out there, and that is an expression many Scientology artists would be too shit scared to do, however she is out there and doing it and couldnt give a shit what a uniform would say or think.

I believe she is the most eccentric in the bunch and most daring. I believe shes getting what she wants out of the religion, but I dont think shes a sheep in the heard like some of the celeb followers.

Keep it clean guys.:omg:

Not the most flattering pose. What sort of people does she expect to attract by posing like that on stage?

She's actually not a bad actress.

And I've never really seen her shoving Scientology down peoples' throats.

She simply grew up in that milieu and it was one of the only things she knew.

It's too bad that she's ignorant of the abuses that the Church of Scientology puts upon people, and it's too bad she has done nothing to handle them, but I am not going to denigrate her as an artist just because she has associated herself with the cult she grew up in.

As an artist overall, she is very courageous.

As an actress she does very a good job.

So there.

I believe you're correct in your characterization. Definitely she's not the conformist type. She was quoted as saying:
"Starting a new career has been a huge education for me. I've always been an outsider and never felt like I fitted in, so being a little bit of a freak of nature in rock 'n' roll suits me."

I met her during the Memphis Mission Grand Opening in mid 90's. Very sweet and gracious person (and pretty! She had short hair then and really beautiful eyes!)

She's a celeb who's been coddled with probably only the best in scn services and auditing and has had 'wins' from her auditing and drug-handlings and such.

She's probably ignorant (or ignoring) of the abuses that occur in CoS, that part, of course, makes me upset! :sadsigh:

I also agree that she's a good actress and have most of her movies. One of our faves of hers was Natural Born Killers. We used to watch it once every year. It's such a violent, intense, different movie!

Anyways: Pete!  :smack:  You REALLY should edit your post, dude!! Like the ever-considerate and respectful TP pointed out...there ARE Ladies present (and prob some kids, too! )

She is way too skinny in this photo. To my eyes, it appears we are looking at her back, that her head is twisted around backwards, with the mic at her butt crack, not the other way around . . . The anorexic skinny on display here could be from drug use - amphetamines, crack, maybe. Ditto on the expression and apparent bizarreness of behavior/attitude.

I hope she is straight, now, and gets her life/career back on track. She looks better in the first photo on this thread, a bit more filled out and healthy looking.

Question, if scn is credited with getting her straight, why isn't it also credited with getting her into drugs - I mean, she became a drug addict while a scn'ist. Tit for tat.

In my book, the person does the drug, and does the work to get and stay clean. Rehab - whatever kind - only works when the person wants to get straight. It is a long hard road, and support comes from those who have been on the same road, not from some 'thing', like scn, or a rundown or purif. Getting healthy is an all around process, encompassing mind, body and soul. IMO scn addresses none of these in a healthy manner . . . Snake oil cure . . . placebo effect . . . plain old brainwashing . . . giving credit where credit is not due.

I wish her the best - and that she wakes up and gets the hell out of scn. May all the scn celebs have a hugmongous wake up call. I'd have thought the loss of JT's son would be enough to shake the belief tree of a lot of snc'ists, but I guess that was a pipe dream - of mine. What a terrible loss . . .

Pete must have edited his post because I don't think he said anything we ladies are not already aware of.

I do think it is kinda funny that Ms Lewis could be banned from the Internet in Australia due to her flat-chestedness.

Back in the day her Dad made CD's and was a character actor in many films. His group was called "Celestial Navigations", I believe. I heard a couple tunes, they were very spacey like. keyboard led but musical.

If these are current promo pieces, I'd say she is doing a great job representing CoS. These pics should communicate to and match the tone level of the crowd they want coming in. Great PR.

I guess my sense of humor is a bit over the top at times.

I definitely have a thing for skinny, flat chested, trashy looking chicks who unabashedly display their mons veneris, and Juliet, in that pose, is totally there. To make my ideal fun gal ... she should look kinda like Juliet, be about 40, be farm raised in a large family with lots of brothers, therefore she 1) knows how to work on cars 2) is good with firearms 3) has great horse sense 4) as per the Mars/Venus book speaks native Martian.

I read through that thread and came accross this post from "Lorelei" who said: "If she was raised in the cult by (a) cult parent(s), then why did Scientology fail her in the first place, and fail her severely enough that she had to do "battle with drugs" that they then allegedly "saved" her from?"

That IS very similar to how I feel about this situation. That Scientology failed her in the first place. BOTH of her parents were scientologists (I know this as I worked with her Mom) and yet she got messed up on drugs. Now she is promoting that the CoS saved her?
Probably she's gotten herself into severe ethics trouble at the Celebrity Center and is coming out with all this bullshit about scientology saving her to keep herself from getting Declared an SP and disconnected from the rest of her family. I hope one day she wakes up and ditches the cult.

I assume her mother is Sherry. I was on PAC RPF. With her. Because Jeffrey Lewis was a celeb the rules got bent a little. He would infrequently come to RPF to get Sherry. I recall Sherry as kind, personable and pretty anxious.

Her Mom was Glenis Batley. If you go to the web page below she is in the pic all the way to the left sitting next to Juliette (if you scroll down the page):

I worked literally right next to her for several months back around 23 years ago at CC Int. She was a lot of fun. Glenis, if you're lurking here..........I miss you!

Love her outfit -- especially the knee pads. :coolwink:

Does she wear those when engaging in activities that the CoS will cite as "public benefit" to substantiate their claim to be a legitimate charity? or are they tools of the trade in applying those "abilities gained" through her personal progress up/across the scn bridge?

what a fine role model she is for people such a my 11-year-old grandaughter, who also happens to be a very talented young artist and musician. :p

I liked all of these movies actually. I have seen her rock and roll. I have never seen so much passion in a human being for a thing!! I laughed hard. She was so out there on David Letterman. No inhibitions. Definitely NOT my kind of music though.. I couldn't believe she was doing that crowd surfing in the black leather jumper with all the holes cut out of it. Juliette kinda looks like the other Scn wierdo from the 70's, Karen Black in the one photo posted by someone else. I can also see the resemblance to her dad in it.

In The Basketball Diaries I will never forget her as a teenage heroin addict trying to hustle Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Wahlberg on the NYC steps of the tenament building. Priceless. (first minute of the vid)

Came from a broken home and split custody issues, back and forth. She was a wild kid - hyper and impulsive compared to her mom. Didn't surprise me at all that she got into drugs. I remember that she wanted to be a pop singer.. sang when ever she could in her youth before her teens hit.

Here is an article that tells more:
Rock and role

I word cleared Juliette at CCInt in 1989 Div 6 courseroom. She was bouncing off the walls then. I met her again 6 months later and she was so relaxed and contented looking. I asked her where she had been and she told me sheepishly she had received some auditing in the field. What a difference.
I liked her in Cape Fear.
