While in the RPF Claire was diagnosed with breast cancer. She battled this for 2 years. Many people beat this disease but it helps to have a great support system. What kind of support did Claire get? In addition to the Church of Scientology's treatment of an elderly cancer patient, this Knowledge Report is relevant for several reasons. For example:

First, it demonstrates the Church of Scientology policy of getting their "elderly onto Medicare," which saves the Church of Scientology "100's of thousands of dollars."

Secondly, it also shows that it "is a bizarre viewpoint for a Scientologist" to think that "reading the newspaper" is "not entheta and is informative."

Third, hugging an 86 year-old man is "inappropriate 2D stuff."

Fourth, from the Knowledge Report:
A main complaint she has is that she has is that she needs to use the bathroom often. When I took her to Tampa to get a green card (to get her on medicaire) I was with her the whole day and she used the bathroom 1-2 times.This is of interest.

What was her status before she got a green card? How long was she in that status? How did she get the green card?

And isn't it nice that, instead of paying for her medical care, the Church of Scientology instead made sure she (finally) got a green card and then put her on Medicare. After all, it is only right that the taxpayers of the United States, and not the Church of Scientology, pay for the medical care of Sea Org members.

Is it possible that the KR is a fabrication? Of course it is. One of the reasons I posted this both here and on ESMB is to get more information. Perhaps somebody on ESMB (less likely here, but possible) knows the identify of the woman who was in charge of the “care” of elderly FSO staff during the relevant period of time, and/or the identity of the person who wrote the KR.

Or perhaps one of the recipients of the KR can authenticate it if that person has blown.

This is a general write up regarding specific Out - Ethics I have observed Claire to be involved in.

I have checked up /seen her about 100 times since I took her on in November, 2000. Every time I see her she is doing the following things:

Putting on make-up
Getting ready to dye her hair
Buying a St. Pete Times newspaper
Plucking her eyebrows
Reading the newspaper
Reading a novel
Drinking coffee with a room mate or friend
Smoking
Visiting her daughter
Chatting with friends
Giving me bad or critical remarks about RTC, CMO terminals, Security and other crew.
Causing out PR with non-Scientologists

I have only once seen her resting.

I have never seen her exercising, like she is supposed too.

I also have not seen her twinning on Assists even though I gave her various elderlies who were happy to do this with her.

With my other elderlies I handle them myself if they are slack or out ethics. This is my job and any responsible SO member would do the same. When I have tried to take up these points with Claire her response is to write to very high Org terminals and spread black PR about me and natter about how I am mishandling her.

She seems a bit obsessed with reading the newspapers. When I took this up with her she insisted how the paper is not entheta and is informative. This is a bizarre viewpoint for a Scientologist let alone a S.O. member. She also reads the obituaries and tells me who died. This is destructive for her first Dynamic and will not contribute to her getting well. Hacienda Security says that she goes out every day like clockwork just to get a paper. One day she did not get cue as we had to go to an early morning medical appointment and she was very PTPed about getting one later that day.

She is also very addicted to coffee and cigarettes and when she left her coffee at Magnolia she was very PTPed about me getting it to her that day and asked me numerous times to get it as if it was some emergency. She smokes at lot and of course has been told to stop smoking many times by her doctors.


When I take her to doctors offices she is loud, rude, and sometimes curses loudly.

A few weeks ago I got her in with a government official (a Mr. Casisis) who in the past has gone out of his way for the Church and has been very helpful in getting our elderly crew onto Medicaire. (this saves us 100's of thousands or dollars)I have been working on my comm line with this guy for about 2 years and it has been going very good and proven very valuable. Anyway, I was very pleased he was going to see her and fit her in. At this point she decided she was too hungry to do the cycle right then. This was bad as it is extremely hard to see him and can take months to get a appointment for him. I asked the receptionist if had time to get a snack for my friend and unfortunately he went off and told Mr. Casisis that Claire was hungry.

Anyway at that point Mr. Casisis called us in to see him and we sat as his desk in the back rooms of this proper government office. He then asked Claire if she was hungry and I expected her to say no, she was fine. She could wait etc. and to my horror she said yes - and he asked her if she wanted some of his pizza and she said yes. He went off and got her this. Then she proceeded to eat this at /on his desk. It was hot and she used her fingers to scoop stuff off the top and it got messy bad she got tomato sauce around the val docs etc. Then she asked him for a cup of coffee! This was so inappropriate that I could not quite believe it was happening.

This was absolutely creating a shore flap and she should do lower conditions for that alone. This is just one story in dealing with her - just thought that as I kept saying she is troublesome without giving a lots of specifics - I should give some - so there is one story.

Anyway the next day the Hibo capered him with an Italian (he is Italian) take out meal brought to his office and we dead agented this as best as possible.

She also has done some inappropriate 2D stuff, like tightly hugging Ernie, who is 86 and he commented on it and she thought that was funny.

After she got back to the Hacienda she would frequently return to Magnolia. Manor and would spend the day there visiting and socializing. All the time saying she was way too ill to do 2 hours of light desk work 1-2 times a week, as I had asked her to do. She even arranged for them to give her meals there. This was out exchange and of course - out PR.

Also after she was back at the Hacienda for a few weeks she heard that someone elderly from Magnolia Manor had died and she went there and closed the manager at Magnolia to take her to the funeral. I do not even know if she was invited.

Also all these times she goes to Magnolia - she walks. This is outpointy as again she has been "too sick / too weak to work" but can go off around town socializing.

Per security - when her family was here she went off with them for the entire days for 1-2 weeks.

An per security she often goes out shopping at night with Dorothy Cosby.

I also saw that she was writing to the Feshbachs - this needs to be investigated to see if there is something bad going on. In the past she was very social with public and had received inappropriate gifts like a cell phone, and I think a VCR.

While she was at Magnolia she arranged for a public, Sandra Litchfield - to take her out shopping to help her do personal cycles. When I went over this with her and enlightened her on, the current FLB rules regarding fraternizing with public- she did not think she had done anything wrong.

It also should be checked out to see if she has gotten any other special favors or money from public. She has been too open with them - telling how rough it has been and how sick she has been, etc.

She also mentioned to me that her son had sent her money. This should be checked out as he is a recent freeloader.

As bizarre as the author appears, it still looks like a valid report, not a fabrication.

Claire in her independence is described beautifully. I am sorry she had to suffer SO abuses and idiocies. But, she was there by her own choice.

To me the report seems genuine. No need for Marty to make something like this up as it is typical for the Sea Org to treat their people this way.

This woman was a Class XII Auditor, made tens of millions of dollars for the Sea Org and this is how they treat her. The report and Martys post are worth reading, there is some interesting info in there as KK said.

Claire and I are the only two Canadians to have ever trained to the level of Class XII.

I have neither read the notice put out by the FSO, nor attended her Memorial service (held on August 11 2001 at the Sand Castle), so this Eulogy will remain inadequate.

Anyone who has information they feel would be a worthy contribution to this Eulogy is welcome to submit it at my address provided at the bottom of this page.

Claire joined the Sea Org in the 1970s. Her friends described her to me as a "Gentle Soul".

She pursued the rest of her Sea Org Career in Los Angeles, eventually becoming a Class VIII.

In 1980 She joined the Flag Service Org in Clearwater and became a NOTS auditor. She eventually became a Class XII Auditor around 1984.

For a time Claire and I worked in the same HGC, Claire was a very heavy smoker, going through two packs in a day. Although today, it seemes to me like a petty argument, at the time, as a non-smoker, it caused some friction between us.

In retrospect, the reason, seems to have been her deep care toward her numerous pcs. Subjected, like all other High Classed Flag Auditors to inhumane conditions, it was her way to deal with the impossible levels of stress while continuing to deliver the best possible auditing to her pcs.

In 1989 Claire completed Solo NOTS and OT VIII and became one of 5 Auditors and C/Ses to deliver services to OT VIII public.

The picture below was taken in Clearwater on Sunday, December 6, 1998. One sees an emaciated Claire Reppen, a "Star of the Team" and by then a "senior Citizen" being made to do hard Labor on a Sunday.

One can, but ponder what kind of organization makes the elderly do hard physical labor even on Sunday for essentially no pay, so that it does not have to pay outside contractors to build its Christmas lights and decorations

Per Marty, she got busted off her post by RTC because she refused to agree with DM's altered definition of an F/N. For that she was sentenced to hard labor at 66 years old after making the FSO about 50 million dollars. :grouch:

No, my dear friend, I would not want to live in a world run by Scientology. I hate Scientology. And this Knowledge Report performed on Claire Reppen contains a few of the reasons why.


I hate Scientology for teaching people that visiting with family, chatting with friends, taking walks, hugging people, reading the newspaper, eating good food, and generally enjoying life are punishable offenses. This is so far beyond wrong…it would be laughable if it wasn’t so damn heartbreaking.

I hate Scientology for tricking people into believing they are free thinkers when the reality is they stopped thinking freely the moment they sat in a chair facing another person and were instructed to stare at that person while a third party determined whether their actions received a “pass” or a “flunk.” Scientologists, the moment you subjected yourself to be “trained,” the moment you allowed another person to judge your performance, the moment another person decided your pass-or-flunk fate -- from that exact moment you stopped thinking freely and became contingent to the approval of other persons and/or the Scientology system of laws. Admit it. Your every action as a Scientologist is subject to the laws of Scientology and by how other people perceive you are adhering (or not) to those laws. This is not the definition of a free thinker. A free thinker does not depend on rules, regulations, policies, commands, directives, and subjective “passes” or “flunks” to dictate their lives. That’s what makes them “free” to “think” “freely.” You know, as in free of form limitations. Your training has conditioned you toward automatic thought and away from freethinking. And I hate that.

I hate Scientology for forwarding a philosophy of cutting people off from one another. There is nothing more important than human connection. Nothing. Then you use up every bit of their strength, energy, gifts, skills, and talent to further your money-grubbing goals. Then, when their biology finally breaks down under your relentless push to brand the world with the Scientology logo, you deliver them up to the nearest Medicare/Medicaid social worker and you wash your hands of them until they die. How you manage your life-exiting members is on a perfect par with how you manage your life-entering members. You simply abort them.

I never knew Claire Reppen but she sounds like a lovely lady. Frankly, she sounds like someone who really did want to do something good in the world. This seems to be true of a good number of Scientologists – including my friend “Benny”. I know I’m sounding like sour grapes here, and I don’t usually go there, but reading that KR made me ill. What an unbelievable KR. It shows that the person who wrote it has no idea on how to treat an elder person. I am over 50, and go to the bathroom often, because my bladder is not that good any more. I can not hold urine too long, and if my bladder is completely full, I become incontinent. So my solution is to go to the bathroom oftenly as to not allow my bladder to get full. In my
50's, I go much more often to the bathroom than this lady.
I was a public member, but I had never agreed with that of not reading newspaper, or watch TV. I always had TV in my home, and always have read the newspaper, or the news in the web.

I didn't know the subject or the author and I thought it was hysterically funny that someone would KR an elderly person for reading a novel or wanting the paper...especially someone who is simply biding their time. My laughter abruptly stopped when I realized it was all too real. I didn't know the person died. I had almost thought it was a spoof. That's because I was never in the S.O. Decades in the cult but so sheltered from certain aspects of what went on behind the iron curtain of the S.O. The S.O. keeping these things hidden is what has given the cofs much of it's sustenance and longevity.

This is very true. DM didn't start this but has taken Hubbard's insanity to manipulation levels that Hubbard himself would envy. And Marty is nothing more than biding his time to come in and rescue the Tech. Scientology is a daily dose of hypnosis of telling people of the "bridge to freedom" but the underlying hidden suggestion is "give me all your money" or "work like slaves so that the Church can make money." It is an evil intentional trap that uses the bait and switch method.

If Hubbard's claims about Scientology were actually true then there wouldn't be a single person here posting on this board. Claire's story is just like thousands of other stories out there. They start off with such high hopes but in the end the harsh reality is that Scientology is nothing but a scam and that those members are being completely used to further that scam. Supporting this insane degraded Nazi-type group has sickened me in my heart.

Claire was obviously only trying to have a little bit of life at the end.

Any honorable group would have given her a special award for her major

I think you are right about Claires' independence. But maybe she had limited choices then. I remember that when I escaped from a 10 week "isolation" (false imprisonment ) in late '70s, I found myself without a place to live and no money. I was in my twenties at that time and that was hard enough. I cant speak for Claire of course but it must have been near on impossible for her to start a new life considering the details in the 'kr'.

Some other ugly facts:

1) It’s pretty well known by now the miniscule pay SO members receive in comparison to DM’s multi thousands and other luxurious accomodations, compare this to Claire’s $7/wk income while at the MM (Magnolia Manor) battling for her life and with this she had to buy all her toilteries, newspaper, coffee, cigs, clothing, etc.

An FSO staff member told me that being a freeloader is considered almost equivalent to being a declared SP. Interesting bastardization. It’s like how racism gets started someone makes a 3P comment and voila! The SP now gets his satisfaction by taking people out with just an utterance. The thread should be in the Crimes thread. This KR is a tragic crime against humanity.

I am a breast cancer survivor, and am involved with older people who are terminally ill with breast cancer. These brave women are pampered: we hold free make-up afternoons which are sponsored by leading make-up companies who also pay the beauticians in order that each woman has her own beautician for the afternoon. We also have wig people come in to show the women the types of wigs available and many of us try on the weird and wonderful in the wig line just to have a laugh. We share stories both tragic and wonderful, and we hug and hold each other at random and at our will.

We celebrate the lives of the terminally ill, with chat nights and speakers. We freely give our time to take them shopping, have a coffee, watch children at play, go to the theatre or a concert, or just sit and read the paper or a book to them. The paper is terribly important to the terminally ill because many of them have a thirst to know what happened in the world as they were dying. Also important to them is to have someone sit and look at their photo albums.

I am beyond words for the cruelty and lack of empathy and compassion shown to this feisty old lady who should have been allowed to die with dignity. Thank you for posting it even though it has made many readers cry.
