Hey:
Just re-watched Vanilla Sky the other day...and correct me if I'm wrong here but...
TC (And possibly Penelope Cruz) both show their (Clear) Bracelets.
They both had the same silver thick-chained 'charm-bracelet-type' on. And they intentionally 'scratched their head or face' in a move to show it. (imo. Am I wrong?)
And btw...any other movies where scn celebs did this?

I was boycotting TC movies when that came out. Still am. I haven't noticed that on any actor or in any movie, but it is not something I'd have been noticing or would even know what it was if I saw it. I never knew about the barcelets until the thread FireDragon put up a few days ago about one for sale on Craigslist.
Yo duh.
I am interested in knowing too. Did what's-his-name Earl actor have one on his tv show? I watched that until I found out he was a scn-o. Then- no-ee-o moar-ee-o 'My Name is Earl' tv show for me. :spitcoffee: :puke2: And I won't be watching his new cop show either. So there, whatever your name is Earl actor.
I will be watching for it from now on - and boycotting the artistic product of anyone who does that.
PS: Penelope is Catholic (probably non-practicing). She did a few courses in scn when dating TC. That seems to be a requirement. It was not for her (to cob's great relief), and that is why, IMHO, TC and she broke up - cordially, I might add. Her family was/is a great detriment to co$, sort of like Nicole and her family was/is - all very PTS. This is just my take on it, or the one made public - secretly -

Clear bracelets don't look like charm bracelets. I never saw the whole movie but in one youtube clip of it, I saw Cruise's bracelet and it looked like this ID bracelet

I'll have to find the scene in the movie...they looked 'different' than just an 'ordinary charm bracelet' (imo) tho...I'll go find which scene...
And ya, we are also pissed at TC and don't wanna buy anymore/watch his movies either. We decided to watch VS for the plot this time, tho. Btw...does anyone know if the 'Tech Support' guy (Noah somebody) and Kurt Russel are/were scn's too?

Oh crap, not Kurt Russell, please tell me this ain't so. Past dabblings I don't care about. It is the super secret heavy duty current involvements that make me want to :puke2: Like Will and Jada.
Or the wave it in your faces like TC and Kirstie (though I like her lots, BTW - well I guess I once felt that way about TC too - and probably could again, if he'd grow a real pair).
Now JT, he is much more subdued, and I can stomach that. I think he'd really like to be rid of this albatross around his neck, but he is trapped. You got my sympathy, JT, for more than the loss of Jett.

Ok heads up: Starts at 31:58 into the movie. It does NOT look like a scn-related bracelet.
Tom's looks more like the one AnonyMary pictured in this Thread. Hers is prob a similar form.
So there ya have it. I was wrong! :duh:
But still, I WOULD like to know IF there's been any movies/scenes where a scn celeb has shown their scn bracelet....

Please accept my apologies in advance for a somewhat off-topic post. Vanilla Sky was a fabulous movie! Cruise did a fabulous job in his role as the central character, David Aames, a young, attractive, wealthy and self-centered publisher. His performance appears natural and effortless as the role makes demands that mirror so many dimensions of his personality. Also, I couldn't help notice the theme that science is infallible, but the subconscious (reactive?) mind is prone to misinterpretation and error.
My favorite quote from the movie is by Rebecca Dearborn (played by Tilda Swinton). She's the red-headed Life Extension rep trying to sell David Aames on the Lucid Dream package. In trying to persuade David Aames to buy this enhancement she says, "Most of us live our whole lives, without having an adventure to call our own. What is any life without the pursuit of a dream?"
Lastly, the soundtrack is just fabulous; it's perhaps tied with Highlander (1986) (written by Queen) as my all time favorite. I especially liked Todd Rundgren's "Can We Still Be Friends," and the Red House Painters, "Have you Forgotten?" Here is the link to the latter song:

Well Jeffery, RebtGenius, I hope one day I will see that movie, and get to watch TC again. Thank you for the review/critique. I love the Highlander/Queen soundtrack/music too :-). Hey, I loved the Highlander movies and especially the TV series, with Adrian Paul (and Peter Whitfield as Methos). Yum :D ! But time moves on, and even a TV series about immortals who don't grow old, gets old - lol.
Ahhh, if only . . .

I liked Vanilla Sky. What *surprised* me was how far the 'Life Extension' company referenced Scientology. Near the end, when Cruise goes to the office, the regging and decor is exactly from an Org. I'm still at a loss as to whether Tom Cruise *missed* that, or whether he's so Mindfucked as to consider that kind of experience other than creepy.

In the opening trailer for "One Life to Live", there used to be Jeff Pomerantz' hand with his clear bracelet stirring a cup of coffee. Google "One Life to Live" opening. You might find it.

Maybe they'd like to write confidential submissions to the Australian Senate Inquiry. :)

Jeff Pomerantz (born July 2, 1943) is an American actor and active Scientologist. After a long career as a television Doctor on several soap operas as well as appearing in numerous other television guest roles, he is now mainly just the voice-over of Scientology at events and in videos; for instance, introducing Tom Cruise in the infamous IAS Freedom Medal of Valor ceremony video.

Greetings Lurker5,
Thank you for the kind words and feedback. I apologize to everybody for botching the link to my You Tube music selection, which I just fixed. Anyway, I was almost surprised to find a Highlander fan on this board, yet alone anywhere. Well, the movie and subsequent series did have a very loyal 'cult' following--just big enough to sustain itself until it died a very unremarkable death. Also, I almost spit my Diet Mountain Dew on my monitor when reading your last remark. This quote is a classic:
But time moves on, and even a TV series about immortals who don't grow old, gets old - lol.

Greetings Zinj,
Nice catch Zinj. As you usual, you're very perceptive. The parallels between Scientology and Vanilla Sky were so apparent that my non-scio friends were surprised. It was almost as though Cruise or his handlers controlled part of the script!
I found it interesting how they utilized a psychologist instead of a forensic psychiatrist. Also, I noticed it was the seemingly protective and fatherly psychologist who tried to save David Aames (i.e. Tom Cruise) by convincing him not to take the 'leap of faith' by jumping off the building. "These people are dangerous, don't trust them David!" The Life Extension representative showed David Aames that the psychologist was just a part of his subconscious, which he had mocked up. While seemingly very protective and interested in David's best interests, he was actually a hindrance to his freedom. In other words, psychology as a helping profession is only an illusion.
Oh, and I found it funny when Cruise was shaking his pill bottles in an angry tantrum when it was suggested they could increase his pain medication. Furthermore, given all of the psychological dimensions and the serious trauma (engrams?) faced by Cruise, there is no mention of psychopharmacology. And, the Life Extension services are very expensive but worth their value as they use cutting edge, useful technology. Maybe I'm reading too much into it

Greetings Alanzo,
Thanks for chiming in and telling me about the original, which also featured Penelope Cruz. I went to Wikipedia and have noticed that the movies have many similarities. Oh, and I just followed your link (and edited my original post) as I noticed the movie was in Spanish. My ability to understand spoken Spanish is only marginal and I hate subtitles! Oh well. BTW, I found this gem from the Wikipedia article:
"Critic Peter Bradshaw of The Guardian called the film (Vanilla Sky) an "extraordinarily narcissistic high-concept vanity project for producer-star Tom Cruise."

I think Kurt Russel is really great. Remember him in Escape from New York and Big Trouble in Little China which was a lot more fun than Carol Burnett show (http://www.hamptonstephens.com) were back then in hte early eighties.
The trailer for "One Life to Live" looks very interesting. Really well made.
Will and Jada are really cool, too. It will be intereting to see the new movie with their son Jaden Smith in the remake of "Karate Kid".
The old karate Kid seemed very low budget movies but then again that was 20-25 years ago. It is great to see a more modern version of it and with jackie Chan in it then it will be good beccause he is always fun to watch.

Just found this thread again, as someone posted and brought it up to the surface again (so to speak). I see you replied to my post. Thanks - for the allocades - 'classic' blah blah :coolwink:
Yes, I was a huge fan of the TV series. The 'after' movies have been pretty lame. I usually watched about 5 minutes of the dark and stormy photography in the openings, and then changed the channel, ho hum. LOL.
Too bad. It was a great premise, probably taken down every avenue open to it, and then some. There was no place left to go. But I sure miss the guys - Duncan, Methos, Joe. I hated it when they killed off Tessa. I guess she wanted off the show, to go have a baby. They couldn't write that one into the storyline, now, could they :wink2:
And Kurt Russell - goes WAY back before the movies mentioned. He was a Disney child star, did 'Jamey McPheeters', when I was a kid. And he was in the remakes of the Flubber movies. Or was it Absent-Minded Professor? No wait, it was The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes. Anyway, cute guy, then and now. I had a big crush (of course).

Ms. Cruz toured the Sandcastle in 2004-5, and was around the AO a lot. So was her brother. Her brother had the latest Euro trash fashions on, and a safety pin stuck through his cheek. Very fashionable in Barcelona, no doubt, but a bit much for the Mecca of Standard Tech. She, is tiny. Very petite.
