When I first came aboard, it was such fun to find old friends and joke about Blubbard. Certainly all us ex-FCDCers had fun back then and the thread by that name has been a hoot. I could be completely wrong, but now I see endless discussion about something we all loathe--"Scientology." It is time to let go. If we hate it so much why are we so fascinated with it? Maybe I have just gone beyond the subject, after all every single one of us was burned in a big way. I really miss the hilarious threads, but maybe it is me not picking up on the funny stuff any longer.

I know what you're saying. :sadsigh: The good news is that the pendulum will swing back again. . . . we've lost a lot of great, thoughtful and humorous posters lately. I hope they come back, but the void will be filled, I'm sure of it. In the meantime, don't miss Hoax's stuff -- I've been in tears laughing on numerous occasions!!

You are not the first person to write something like this.

I think that eventually quite a few people decide they are done with Scn criticism because they would like to move on from that. That's cool.

We have an off topic section here and we can all PM each other here and friend each other on Facebook and this way, you can still chat with those you enjoy about things you really would like to chat about.

You have a valid point. I think there is some truth in the phrase "You can take the person out the cult, but you can’t take the cult out of the person" (http://www.elizabethesther.com/2011/01/you-can-take-the-person-out-the-cult-but-you-cant-take-the-cult-out-of-the-person.html)

Today, I resent much, but not all of Scientology. I resent the faked science, the dogma, the cult think, the false pretense etc. But at the time when I got involved (in the seventies) it was doing things for me, I was fascinated and it had some positive impact on me.

I guess life after Scientology is about finding other values and meanings. And to let go of those GRAND GOALS AND GAMES. But to step down from those high horses could be a drag. It's a little like the case of Don Quixote who ends up in a melancholy state (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Quixote) when he is regaining sanity back home again ...

Many of us won't let go of it because we love our family our friends and even complete strangers in such a way that we can't let go of it. Knowing what we know about it.

I for one will never let go of it until I am certain no one else will ever be subjected to such spiritual brutality disguised as spiritual benevolence in my lifetime. Which means I will be forgoing the humor of it in the interest of exposing the insanity of it until I draw my last breath in this world.

Yeah but this place is also good for all the new ppl who are trying to get out of the cult now. The Basics revision and wave brought about a huge wave of new ppl into the cult, like myself. So I have some time to be brought up to speed to where you are. Seeing discussion about how evil the cult is helps us to realize what is going on. And sometimes when it's been normal speak it's fun to talk in a strange language that others understand without being in the cult.

Plus honestly Hubbard came across and popularized quite a few awesome things but I'm trying to figure out which is good and which is trash. And where he plagiarized them from. So this board really helps with that.

What kind of crazy threads have you started? I love the funny cats one btw, my family loved it too! Maybe you should reshare your story so that the newbies know who you are. Who are you?:coolwink:

Oh yes I understand your passion. It is well founded and I admire it. Those that are still bound in the cult's clutches are a tremendous sorrow for me. I was in 40 years ago, however, and I personally do not know many current Scns. Greg Wilhere was my auditor at FCDC, famous guy now I suppose, and it pains me that he is still deluded. As it says under my name, I kind of flunked scientology. I got into it in college in SLC, Utah via a fellow musician who badgered me to death until I did a comm course in 1971. I was all starry eyed and came back home to Arlington, VA and actually went to FCDC to sign up for auditing (how stupid.) It was not long before I found myself on staff trying to find places for pcs to live--"Director" (of what?) of "Technical" (SURE) "Services" (huh?). Well there was a bene...I got to help Virginia Downsborough (wonderful old lady) and Pandora Cooper (hottest chick on the east coast) with their needs while C/Sing. Oh those legs, Pandora, gawd I was in heaven. My memory dulls a bit, but I remember tiring of the org always axing me for money, and I finally stopped payment on the last check. Lorraine Scheffler came after me to no avail. I vividly remember, however, walking away from 2120? S Street for the last time. I saw Mystic on my way out and said hi, never to return.

I am happy to report that the friend who got me into this mess, Monica Pignotti, seems to be doing well. She was a fellow cellist who quit playing though--and if she reads this, hey git yerself a cello and start playing again!!!

One last point, my flunking scientology: The EP of level 0 was as I remember it "the ability to communicate with anyone about anything." I always thought that was impossible, pure bull shit. So I never even attested to it. I never got to all these delusional grand states of clear, "Disfunctional Thetan" I, II, III, IV,V,VI,VII, VIII and whatever other exhalted conditions there may have been in L Ron Hubbard the Turd's machinations.

That said, I dearly loved so many people in Scn, and I cry for their suffering. But as I said, I have moved on--to the dirty old man state I am in, infatuated with every pretty woman out there.

I know what you mean Winston. I started reading Jefferson Hawkins book last night and the first chapter is about how he was young and in the late 60's and how everything seemed idealistic and how he got into scio and how fun it all was with great people etc. I started reminiscing on those early innocent and naive years and what a great group of friends I had in scio in the beginning. But looking back it was all a false idealism. Oh well. Move one. What I'm really missing now is the years after I got out of the cult from 1985 into the early 2000's. That's when my life really began and were the best years of my life. It's hard to let go of those good times. I'm struggling to create new good times but having difficulty with that. I feel jaded. Getting old sucks. lol

Well, the board has become more serious over time, but that is because it is realistic that Scientology will have a Black Swan event "real soon now". A Black Swan event is something that comes out of nowhere, for which there was no ability to plan for or react to it, and nothing in history that guides to how to handle it.

I think that many exes and critics have a "feeling" that something is going to implode Scientology, so there is "natter" about things that might not mean too much except that the "natter" is subliminal expectation.

Oh, hell! This makes no sense to me either! :whistling:

Well Winston there is nothing with being a dirty old man! Haha! You know it's funny I usually like don't dress up but I went to some event with a skirt and then like the next week one of the staff is bullbaiting me and telling me that they were thinking about me in that skirt. I'm like shit, what happens if I actually try and really dress up and wear that one hot dress or school girl stockings or something. It one just one day of showing off the legzz!:p

As far as bodies, I believe in past lives and I think we take turns, some of you may be older now, but when I was old you were young, etc etc. And there is nothing wrong with dirty old men, I personally think they are great :wink2:

And yes East Coast girls are hot! (I'm from there!)

So care to share your funniest jokes and slanderous sayings? I'm new to this- I love the ones like Flubbard or Hubturd. Can you share your funniest jokes?

Would make me happy!!! :happydance:

We should all lighten the hell up more. We should tell more jokes. Talk about what we cooked for dinner that was great. Tell funny stories on ourselves. Ask for help when we feel blue. And just enjoy our virtual friendships here more.

After all, WWP calls ESMB the "hug box." And we should try to live up to our terrible reputation.

Geez, I have a lot of laughs here but interestingly enough I went through a sad period a little while back as well.

I found I was being "restimmed" a bit from the site and becoming a little sad, lazy and once I even dreamt I was back in the cult. AAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!.

Anyway that passed and I am now back enjoying life. I returned to the gym doing old man exercises and feeling strong, healthy and full of life again.

I will always be proud of the fact that I survived the cult and prospered after I left, but I feel a need to keep in touch with those who understand my experiences.

I love this site because of the various purposes for which it was designed. To help those getting out, to help those feeling depressed, to inform those who are thinking of getting involved, to make the truth available to all who are interested, to keep up to date with the steady decline and to help push this disgusting cult over the edge to oblivion.

But I think it's unfair that I didn't get a pic TG1.
