The upcoming fund raising dinner by the Simon Wiesnthal Center in Los Angeles and their Museum of Tolerance honoring Tom Cruise is now starting to take a turn in the light of more articles on the event.

I stumbled across this link at WWP this morning. What an article! H S! Epic Win! My mouth kept dropping as I read the article and some of the many, many links to critics, and from watching the videos.

Article link: http://lukeford.net/blog/?p=31983 OUTSTANDING!

Controversy over Wiesenthal Center’s honoring Tom Cruise as humanitarian

Michael Barger emails:

Hi Luke!

I don’t know if you have heard but the Wiesenthal Center in LA is honoring Tom Cruise with a swank Hollywood fund raising dinner on May 5 and will present its Humanitarian Award to Tom Cruise.

There has been outrage among Jews I know here and in Israel, many of whom have relatives who have died in the Holocaust, and who know just how ridden the Scientology regime of David Miscavige is with manifold human rights abuses.

I have been researching Jewish writers who have written on Scientology and was trying to find out how to contact Joey Kurtzman when I came across videos you have done with him. Since you have done some writing on the cult I am writing to you.

I sent an email to Holocaust scholar Deborah Lipstadt at Emory University and she wrote back that she is flabbergasted at the news. This was confirmation of the seriousness of the issues involved.

I have written a sort of backgrounder from the information I sent Prof. Lipstadt and include it below.

I also note that you are originally from Australia. There have been major reports exposing Scientology abuses there, and Sen. Nick Xenophon has done amazing work pressing for investigation of the cult.

By way of background I am a former Roman Catholic clergyman who got interested in Scientology’s abuses as a result of the rise of the young people’s protest movement called Anonymous that arose in early 2008. When I did the research I was horrified by what I discovered. A church with a intelligence agency that has carried out the largest known infiltration of our government? No way. So I have since been writing and speaking and educating about the dangers of Scientology particularly among Catholics.

I think what this new scandal needs is more Jewish writers voicing their opinions on the affair. If you would be moved to write something from the information I have provided that would be all to the good.

Backgrounder on the Wiesenthal-Cruise Affair

The Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC) has decided to honor Tom Cruise with its humanitarian award at a fundraising dinner of Hollywood celebrities and power brokers on May 5 in Los Angeles. California Senator Diane Feinstein and producer Steven Spielberg are among the co-chairs.

The news has been greeted with shock and dismay by former Scientologists and activist advocates for victims of Scientology abuse since Tom Cruise is known to millions as the chief celebrity promoter of Scientology, and there are numerous testimonies of violence and abuse within the Church of Scientology.

SWC was founded in 1977 by Rabbi Marvin Hier as a Jewish human rights organization and named after Nazi-hunter Simon Wiesenthal. It promotes human rights, combats anti-Semitism, and teaches lessons from the Holocaust. The organization operates on a budget of $28 million and is headquartered in Los Angeles. It maintains Museums of Tolerance in Los Angeles, New York, and Jerusalem, and offices in Toronto, Paris, and Buenos Aires.

There has been a flood of reporting on Scientology abuses in the last two years the most recent of which is Lawrence Wright’s massive article on the defection of Oscar-winning director Paul Haggis. The St. Petersburg Times has exposed violence and abuse in Scientology leader David Miscavige’s regime in its The Truth Rundown series. In light of these reports SWC’s decision seems inexplicable.

There has been no commentary in the main stream media on the humanitarian award to Cruise, but Danielle Berrin at the Jewish Journal’s Hollywood Jew has given us the first report. She addresses the questions about why Cruise should qualify as a humanitarian. She quotes SWC founder Rabbi Marvin Hier, and two Board members, one of whom drops the F-bomb.

A second important commentary comes from William Burke at Ask the Scientologist. He is a former Scientologist and one of the sharpest analyzers of Scientology currently writing.

Burke takes no issue with SWC’s decision but focuses on how the Church of Scientology will exploit the award to legitimize itself and point to SWC as an approver of its status as a legitimate religious and humanitarian organization. Burke also explicates core Scientology doctrine that blames victims of the Holocaust for their fate and places the SWC event in the context of Cruise’s career rehabilitation.

SWC founder Rabbi Hier in saying that SWC respects all faiths elevates L. Ron Hubbard to the status of Moses and places Scientology at par with Judaism, Christianity, and the other great faith traditions that have shaped lives and civilizations for millennia.

Scientology, which began in 1950 with Hubbard’s publication of Dianetics, is recognized as a religion in only a handful of nations. It has no recognition as a religious organization in Israel, where it is widely considered a business enterprise and a cult.

Though Scientology is recognized as a religion by the IRS, no US citizen is bound to deal with Scientology on that basis except in the strictest of legal circumstances. Millions of Americans are adamant in their belief that Scientology is in essence a business and in no way a legitimate religious let alone a human rights organization.

Noted Holocaust scholar Professor Deborah Lipstadt at Emory University in writing about Tom Cruise has put her finger on the problem when she quotes a major critic of Scientology, Ursula Caberta of the Government of Hamburg’s Scientology Working Group, about Cruise being the celebrity promoter of a totalitarian regime.

Tom Cruise is not just an actor who is a Scientologist. He is an ambassador for Scientology. All totalitarian systems have their celebrities to open doors for them.

Not many familiar about Scientology abuses are likely to be convinced by Rabbi Hier’s contention that it is possible to honor Cruise the humanitarian while not honoring Cruise the Scientology promoter.

Scientology itself will not be in agreement with Rabbi Hier because it will gleefully exploit SWC’s humanitarian award as legitimizing the cult. In its propaganda it trumpets: “Tom Cruise has disseminated LRH technology to 1.1 billion people of earth.” A Church of Scientology video interview “Tom Cruise and Tom Cruise, Scientologist” was leaked to the internet in January 2008. It has been viewed over 6.5 million times.

The Church of Scientology forced YouTube to remove the video and in so doing sparked the largest opposition the cult has seen in its sixty-year history. Outraged at this suppression of free speech on “their internet” thousands of college students around the world formed the Anonymous anti-Scientology movement and have been relentlessly protesting on the streets and the internet for the last three years. Their impact has been enormous in liberating people terrified of speaking out for fear of Scientology’s intelligence agency, the Office of Special Affairs (OSA).

There are other important Jewish dimensions. Foremost is the totalitarian cult’s 15-year-long persecution of Holocaust survivor Paulette Cooper. Shortly after her birth her family was sent to a concentration camp. Her parents were subsequently murdered in Auschwitz. Seventeen of twenty-two of her relatives died in the Holocaust.

Raised in a kosher home after being adopted by US parents, she graduated from Brandeis University. In accord with the best Jewish values of sympathy for the underdog and a passion for justice she wrote one of the first critical books about the cult, The Scandal of Scientology. Scientology conceived Operation Freak Out to silence her. It used covert agents to smear her with accusations of engaging in sexual perversions with her rabbi.

They stole stationery with her fingerprints and wrote bomb threats for which she was indicted and arrested. She faced a nightmare proving her innocence and was sued nineteen times by the cult. When the cult’s intelligence agency was plotting to smear her before she came to testify at hearings in Clearwater, FL, (Scientology’s self-proclaimed Mecca) one official wrote in a telex:

If you want legal docs, from here on we will provide. Then if she still declines to come we slap the writs on her before she reaches CW [Clearwater] as we don’t want to be seen publically [sic] being brutal to such a pathetic victim from a concentration camp.

Paulette’s reflection on her experience is here. An interview with Jewcy.com is here.

Why is a Jewish human rights organization honoring Cruise when Scientology’s human rights abuses will be hanging over the event?

Profesor Lipstadt has addressed two important issues: the cult’s shameless exploitation of the Holocaust against psychiatry and its campaign against the German government comparing Scientologists to Jews and the German government to Nazis.

She has called Scientology’s blaming psychiatrists for the Holocaust a “soft-core” form of Holocaust denial since it does not place blame where it truly belongs, on the shoulders of the Nazi regime.

Scientology’s campaign against the German government sent Rabbi Ignatz Bubis into a rage and dismayed Abraham Foxman at the Anti-Defmation League. Bubis was chairman (and later president) of the Zentralrat der Juden in Deutschland (Central Council of Jews in Germany)

Scientology is engaged in a War on Psychiatry that aims at nothing less than the destruction of all mental heath professions and institutions, in which Jews have played a pioneering role from Freud through Otto Selz, murdered at Auschwitz, and Viktor Frankel, who survived, and many others.

Scientology may rightfully be considered a hate group and has been so named by American Psychiatric Association President, Dr. Nada Stotland:

There is no other medical specialty I know of that has its own particular, dedicated hate group.

Also relevant is the fact of opposition to Scientology in Israel. Benjamin Beit Hallahmi at Haifa University has written extensively on New Religious Movements and denies Scientology’s status as a religion.

Scientology in Israel is not considered a religion but rather a cult, and there has been an important investigative report from Friday Studio on Israeli TV (Part One; Part Two). There is also an organization called The Israeli Center for Victims of Cults. Their Scientology page is here.

Though Christian leaders have scarcely spoken out any more than Jewish leaders, Roman Catholic Cardinal Ouellet of Quebec has warned Catholics and criticized Scientology at his last two annual press lunches The Catholic Archbishop of St. Lucia has denounced invasion of the island by the Scientology front group, The Way To Happiness International.

Scientology in Itay has threatened to sue a women’s religious order, the Daughters of St. Paul, for publishing books by a former Scientologist who has returned to practice of her Catholic faith. Jesuit sociologist Fr. John Coleman has described Scientology as a “totalitarian cult.” Editor Randy Sly at Catholic Online has written extensively and been lambasted by Scientology spokesman Tommy Davis for promoting “religious hatred and violence.”

The best interpretation one can put on SWC’s decision is that it was made in naive ignorance. There is no indication that SWC has revisited its decision and so the event is most likely to proceed as planned. It will not be the first time that Mammon has triumphed over Moses in Hollywood.

As scandalous as the Wiesenthal-Cruise affair appears to many, one can hope that it will be the occasion for discussion of Scientology particularly within the Jewish community. Totalitarian regimes cannot abide the truth; they start to crumble when people speak out.

I find it very distressing and disturbing that the great Simon Wiesenthal's name could become associated with the Church of $cientology as a stamp of approval. :grouch:

That must not happen!

Here is the link to his full apology to the citizens of Clearwater, Fla.:

http://www.lermanet.com/garyweber/apology.htm

Snips:

"Dear Mayor Gabe Cazares, Richard Leiby and the Citizens of Clearwater, I would like to apologize for things I did over 20 years ago. I used to belong to Scientology's Guardian's Office, which is now called 'OSA', short for 'The Office of Special Affairs.' "

and,

"You old time residents probably know me from when the Clearwater Sun ran a picture of me and my uniformed "Nazi commandos" at the Clearwater Sun Building when we did our "we're being persecuted" protest. Nancy Reitze was my boss and she orchestrated Hubbards "Positioning Technology" on Clearwater. Which was to position the Clearwater Sun to something evil, and thru our "Survey Technology." The evil chosen was Nazism. So position them to them. The idea was do anything to stop reporter Richard Leiby and the Clearwater Sun from printing anything "entheta" i.e. anything negative."

and finally,

"I want to apologize to all the Citizens of Clearwater for my being so misdirected and under undue influence that I would use whatever means it took to get the job done, including participating in organizing the Nazi demonstration in front of the Clearwater Sun.

I want to apologize to Mayor Gabe Cazares, for being the one who was sent in to monitor or disrupt his meeting at the VFW, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

I want to apologize to reporter Richard Leiby, for stealing copies of the Clearwater Sun from Newstands in Clearwater, so that Citizens could not read a critical article written by Richard Leiby.

I want to apologize for being part of organization that did these things and others, in order to try to dominate your city."

The above should be sent to the Jewish journalists as the links and info may have been overlooked or forgotten.

I suppose you believe Scientology's Siberia Bill propaganda too.

Scientology did not reform the IRS, and Snow White was a demonstration of Hubbard's paranoia, not any noble impulse.

And it wasn't just the IRS that was infiltrated, burglarized, and dirty tricked, other federal agencies, and state and local governments, were also, as well as private individuals.

L. Ron Hubbard should have been sent to prison along with his wife, not thanked.

"The Germans don't see this as lobbying but as infiltration.

Germany has adopted Draconian measures against scientology.

yeah.

he died young.

shit happens. i sure as hell ain't the lone ranger. i am deeply touched and grateful for the condolences i've received on esmb and also for the opportunity to express the same to people such as markus.

his mother was greg wilhere's sister and it was ultimately greg who blocked my path to him when he was battling leukemia.

when i was born, in 1949, leukemia was an automatic death sentence. Today, 85% of children are in remission after five years and when he died it was 80%. he was an ideal candidate for beating it, brilliant, strong, courageous and even as a four year old he had proven to be adept as a healer. had there been no wall set between us perhaps he would have lived.

i have yet to write the full story but i'll get to it.

what is most pertinent to this board is that greg wilhere's conduct toward me was far beneath his essential character and was so by reason of the dark aspects of CoS.

I received her reply yesterday: she thanked me for the comments and "appreciated" the additional information.

Let' see what she writes next about the cult and her Jewish compatriots at the SWC.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center: On a Cruise to Nowhere? (http://dialogueireland.wordpress.com/2011/04/24/the-simon-wiesenthal-center-on-a-cruise-to-nowhere/)

The Simon Wiesenthal Center is, per their website, “a global Jewish human rights organization that confronts anti-Semitism, hate and terrorism, promotes human rights and dignity, stands with Israel, defends the safety of Jews worldwide, and teaches the lessons of the Holocaust for future generations. With a constituency of over 400,000 households in the United States, it is accredited as an NGO at international organizations including the United Nations, UNESCO, OSCE, Organization of American States (OAS), the Latin American Parliament (PARLATINO) and the Council of Europe.”

They are known for their ‘Museum of Tolerance’ which, again according to their website, is “The Center’s educational arm, founded in 1993 challenges visitors to confront bigotry and racism, and to understand the Holocaust in both historic and contemporary contexts. The Museum has served over 5 million visitors with 350,000 visiting annually including 150,000 students. Over 1.5 million children and youth have participated in the Museum experience and its programs. So why is The Simon Wiesenthal Center planning this May 5th to honor Tom Cruise with their 2011 Humanitarian Award? Such a decision may lead them on a Cruise to nowhere writes Stephen R. Wiseman MD.

You know, it' beyond me why when Scientologists want to make a point that their opponent is a nazi, they themeselves wear nazi uniform and shout heil hitler. That just makes no sense. If one shouts zeig heil and wears a nazi uniform, it makes them appear as nazi symphatizer. I'm amazed that after the infamous 1979 Clear Water protest with nazi uniforms, it still hasn't suck in into OSA's stupid head.

This video sent chills down my spine; knowing that good people will stand up and fight the true evil that scientology always was will always be until good people everywhere stop them in their tracks.

I wonder what Bob is thinking right now, looking down from above on hubbard and his horror of horrors in Hell, where ron no doubt is at the moment. I recall Bob mentioning God's compassion. I'm sure he was just mentioning his own.

...and this just discovered, a comment from a (Ex-"church of") Scientologist:

http://askthescientologist.blogspot.com/2011/04/whats-wrong-with-simon-wiesenthal.html

Although a very clam flavoured soup, the key point is made (snipped for fair use):

<snip>
It is a very controversial decision. I suspect that the Simon Wiesenthal Center had no idea it would be quite so controversial when they made the decision.

I don't think they fully understand what is wrong with that decision.

It isn't about Tom Cruise. I don't know Cruise personally, and I certainly don't have any information about what he has done to warrant such an honor as a humanitarian. Maybe he has done some amazing things that we don't know about. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt on that.

The fact that Tom Cruise used to be the celebrity face of the Church of Scientology was not, and should not be, a factor in that decision. After all, the museum has "tolerance" in their name -- and tolerance is a very, very good thing.

The above are not reasons why this award is a bad idea.

The problem with this award is how the Church of Scientology will use this award. They will trumpet this award as if it means that the Simon Wiesenthal Center:

-approves of Scientology,
-endorses Scientology,
-validates Scientology's claims that they are a "humanitarian group" and
-confirms that Scientology supports Human Rights.

Of course none of those claims are true, but the Church of Scientology will spin the news of the award for exactly that purpose. That's what they do.

And that's what's wrong here. Even if the Simon Wiesenthal Center asks the Church of Scientology to not do that, they will anyway. Scientologists do not believe that requests by non-Scientologists are binding on them. They will do whatever they please.

The Church of Scientology is NOT a humanitarian group by any stretch of imagination. It is arguable that the church is the biggest violator of Human Rights in the United States. See my article Scientology and the Declaration of Human Rights (http://askthescientologist.blogspot.com/2010/04/scientology-and-universal-declaration.html).

If the Wiesenthal center's purpose is to prevent another holocaust, well... supporting a group that believes we need to "Clear the Planet", including destroying those below Tone 2.0 quietly and without sorrow, is not the answer.

They have just lost tons of credibility.

and if you lop the "e" off of mike and give it a gypsy twist just to tweak the masculinity of a snitch you still have the grace and splendor of kim meisner flying our colors beneath the arc lights

his mother was greg wilhere's sister and it was ultimately greg who blocked my path to him when he was battling leukemia.

when i was born, in 1949, leukemia was an automatic death sentence. Today, 85% of children are in remission after five years and when he died it was 80%. he was an ideal candidate for beating it, brilliant, strong, courageous and even as a four year old he had proven to be adept as a healer. had there been no wall set between us perhaps he would have lived.

i have yet to write the full story but i'll get to it.

what is most pertinent to this board is that greg wilhere's conduct toward me was far beneath his essetial character and was so by reason of the dark aspects of CoS.

Only one person showed up - the Angry Gay Pope. Apparently Anon was concerned that a bunch of masked protesters, some with signs attacking the SWC instead of Scientology and Tom Cruise, might be a foot-bullet for anon - so it was called off.

Unfortunately, this shows Scientology a weak spot in anon, and it's likely that this area of PR promotion, allied with Jewish organizations on the topic of the Holocaust, will continue even more frequently, since anon is at a loss as to how to deal with it.

Sounds to me like TC bought that award with his contributions to the SWC over the years more than through performing any real humanitarian work. Sorry I can't back the with references other than my own anecdotal evidence but I'd say that a disproportionate percentage of Jews have succumbed to Scn over the years. However, someone who *might* be able to supply statistics is Steve Hassan, http://freedomofmind.com

I think we made a tactical mistake. We had to protest. That way the media would have definitely reported about the event.
I also think that we [or rather anonymous] need to have a media consultant. I know that MoarXenu and Xenubarb and others worked real hard sending emails and writing blogs about the Wiesenthal award. I've sent quite a few emails to journalists myself. I personally had lunch with two journalists talking about the issue. But they just don't seem to be interested, unless there is a real scandal to report about. And a protest agains the Wiesenthal center would have been a great scandal.

TRANSCRIPT OF TOM CRUISE'S ACCEPTANCE SPEECH:

"I wanted to first express my deep gratitude to Rabbi Hier, Rabbi May and Janice Prager for this incredible evening, which means so much to me and my family.

Thank you very much for this great honor, especially an honor that comes from an institution named for Simon Wiesenthal, who stood up for all of us, in humanity’s darkest hour and dedicated his whole life to the pursuit of justice. Simon lost 89 members of his family. He was an architect by profession and looked forward to a future of designing homes, but when the Nazis destroyed his whole world, his dream to build homes was shattered.

For many years now, I have been a supporter of the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the Museum of Tolerance. I have taken my family to the museum so that they could experience firsthand not only man’s capacity for good, but the tragic story of man’s inhumanity to man.

Rabbi Hier told me this wonderful story about Ann Frank’s father, Otto, who one day came to see Simon Wiesenthal and asked him for a favor. He said, “Mr. Wiesenthal, all I have left of my family is the diary that my daughter Anne wrote. But now the Neo-Nazis and others are claiming the diary is a forgery, completely fabricated, and that the story that we were hidden in an attic never occurred. I know you are working on cases of mass murderers, but if you could just take the time to find the person who arrested our family, that would prove to the entire world that Anne’s diary is not a hoax.”

Simon Wiesenthal looked at Otto Frank and promised him, “You are absolutely right. Your daughter is our hope for the future, a magnet to inspire people to turn away from bigotry. I will do all I can to find him.”

When Simon found Karl Silberbauer, and when he was brought to court and said publicly, “Yes in my role as a Gestapo official, I arrested the Frank family.” To Simon Wiesenthal, this was his most important case, because he believed the story of Anne Frank had the power to touch the lives of millions of people in the darkest of places, inspiring them to choose love over hate. As Anne Frank wrote in her diary, “Nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

There were many Anne Franks who the world will never know that perished in the Holocaust. When I visited the museum last week, I heard the story of 11-year-old Lillian Bernstein who on April 6 together with 43 other children were arrested in Izieu, in the French province of Ain and sent to the Auschwitz/Birkenau death camp. Before leaving, she left behind a letter to G-d in which she wrote, “G-D, how good you are, how kind, and if one had to count the number of good and kind deeds you have done for us you would never finish... G-d, it is thanks to you I had a beautiful life before, but I was spoiled but had lovely things that others do not have. G-d, may I ask you one thing only. Make my parents come back. My poor parents protect them even more then you protect me so that I may see them again as soon as possible. Make them come back again… I have such faith in you that I thank you in advance.”

Our challenge, ladies and gentlemen, is to make sure that we do all in our power to see to it that there will be no more Auschwitz/Birkenaus, no more Rwandas, no more Darfurs on our planet.

That our children and their children may be free to live in a world where men and women are judged by their accomplishments and deeds rather then by their race or religion. That is why I support the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Museum of Tolerance. As Albert Einstein reminded us, “The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.” And as he wrote in a letter that is one of the prized possessions of the Center, “Without an atmosphere of intellectual freedom and tolerance none of us can imagine a life which would be worth living.”

EXAMPLE: "That our children and their children may be free to live in a world where men and women are judged by their accomplishments and deeds rather then by their race or religion."

Scientology simply does not and never did "judge by their accomplishments and deeds". Unless they benefited Scientology financially. Case in point: Let's take any Scientologist from any org or mission in the world. Tell them that someone received life-saving help from another individual. Show them a rave testimonial.

The Scientologist will praise that lifesaver as a hero and agree that they should be "flowed power" for such a theta act.

Then tell them that the lifesaver is a psychiatrist who doesn't believe in Scientology.

The same Scientologist will tell you that the lifesaver is a Suppressive Person that should be attacked and stopped from enturbulating others.

Honestly? Scientologists couldn't give a shit about others' accomplishments and deeds unless they can leverage it in their psychological savagery to conquer the peoples of earth.

No Scientology shilling in the Cruisemeister's speech though.. Because he knows it would be inappropriate? - Or because he fears the fallout? - Or because The Simon Wiesenthal Center told him to cool it?

Whole thing is cringeworthy in the extreme...

Rumour has it that there was an agreement between him and the Wiesenthal people that Scientology would not be mentioned.

I wonder if Tom Cruise is still a practicing Scientologist? He disappeared for some years at one point, didn't he?

He's not about to 'blow' with a big fanfare and press releases, because the Scientology cult could do him too much harm with all the material they've recorded during his sessions... but he got rid of his clam management, and he seems to be doing a lot less cult PR now. The "Mission Impossible" video was a long time ago, as was the couch-jumping episode.

Maybe he just has more 'wogs' around him who are better for his mental health, and maybe his management have made it clear to him that publicly endorsing Scientology in the 21st century is career suicide... or maybe he's personally had an epiphany and seen through the nonsense.

It would be very hard for him to up and leave, but he seems to be doing a lot less for the Scientology cult than he used to. (Although of course, I don't know how much money he might be flowing to Clearwater.) Still... is he KSW? Really? I mean, nobody is KSW because Scientology patently isn't working... but Mapother seems (to me, anyway) to be less of a cult centerpiece than he used to be.

Well, whatever. I still think the Simon Wiesenthal Centre is daft. Sure, Cruise played the role of a man who tried to assassinate Adolf Hitler. That's what he does: he's an actor. You give him a script, and he plays the role. It's not indicative of his politics or his personality. (If he has one of his own...)

I met the guy once, about 13 yrs ago while waiting at ASHO (that should out me). At that time he was not a happy camper. He seemed pretty upset about something. He definitely had his own personality at the time. The painfully artistic type. I was struck by how small he really was.

This is NOT OK !!!!

Actual conversation I recently had with old friend still in (slightly paraphrased):

ME: I'm out of Scientology. Getting reconnected with my faith.

SCIO: Let's sit down soon - I'd like to show you some references (:puke2:)

ME: The branch of my church in our town does lots of good works.

SCIO: Really? What?

ME: Our food pantry is one of the largest in the state. We're giving food to over 500 needy families every month.

SCIO: Why are you helping downstats?

That is a quite perfect example of the "THINGS THAT WOGS DO NOT KNOW ABOUT SCIENTOLOGISTS" (tempting thread, ain't it?)

WOGS don't know that if something bad happens to you, you did it to yourself. Because it's a motivator. You pulled it in. Therefore you have sinned--err, I mean committed overts.

Like the Jews who pulled in Hitler and death in a concentration camp.

Wonder why Cruise did not mention that during his speech?

Short little article from Semitic Controversies and very to the point:

http://semiticcontroversies.blogspot.com/2011/05/in-brief-does-wiesenthal-center-support.html

In Brief: Does the Wiesenthal Center support Scientology?

The Jewish Telegraphic Association released a news bulletin on May 8th telling its probably fairly astonished readers that:

‘The Simon Wiesenthal Center honored actor and producer Tom Cruise with its Humanitarian Award.

The award, presented at a national tribute dinner May 5, was given to Cruise for his longtime support of the center and its Museum of Tolerance, the organization said. It was presented to Cruise by Brad Grey, chairman and CEO of Paramount Pictures.’ (1)

Whoa… hang on a minute. The Wiesenthal Center surely has to know about Tom Cruise’s rather obsessive Scientological beliefs, which border on having a mental illness and certainly aren’t rational in any way, shape or form. Now surely the Wiesenthal Center would have thought it better not to publicly advertise the fact that by accepting money from Scientology; via its proxy and ostensible public face Tom Cruise, they have endorsed Scientology’s ideas and activities.

The fact that Scientology is an implicit factor in this we can ascertain from the fact that they keep their cult members; Tom Cruise included, on a fairly short leash. It is also interesting that in a recent similar case of donations received from Gaddafi’s Libya; via his son’s ‘charitable foundations’, by the London School of Economics this was held to be ‘compromising’ by jews who commented on it at the time.

Why haven’t we heard a similar jewish outcry against the linking of the Wiesenthal Center with the Church of Scientology via Tom Cruise and the endorsement of that funding link by the Wiesenthal Center awarding Scientology’s proxy a ‘Humanitarian Award’?

Well I guess it is all just Shoah business isn’t it?
