in 86 I was in the IMU at the WB, lived at Hacienda Gardens. Then in November I was in the RPF and stayed there until January 1988 when I graduated and ended up going to the UK.

Thanks Mick, I hate it when a cultural reference goes unnoticed.
It kinda feels like....:tumbleweed:

Vox clamatis in deserto?

I thought you'd made that up but googled it just in case! :)
(The "deserto" sounded iffy)

To all those sceptics out there - observe how a flippant post led to me learning some Latin. Result!

Well, like a lot of other countries it has its good points and its tourist destinations.

But it is grey. A lot of people think it rains a lot here. It doesn't. But it often looks like it will.

Frankly I am fed up with the place. Been Enlgish for several lifetimes and my family tree this lifetime is English as far back as I could find. But it not longer attracts me.

Trouble is a lot of other places don't either! I certainly don't intend to continue my East to West migration across the face of this earth ball. Canada is too cold. The US is so nuts it picks an wooden idiot for president and South of there looks too enturbulated to be a good place to live.

My father travelled all over the world during WWII and the only place he liked was Cape Town in South Africa - but I'd bet, if there was any way to actually verify it, that he has grabbed a body in Atlanta near his sister now. I liked Durban when I was there, but the place seemed to be going down hill.

Funnily enough, the only other place I liked was Karachi. But I guess I liked it mainly because I was with some realtively well off people and they maintained a lifestyle not dissimilar to the days of Empire. Things were a lot nicer then (if you not-is the exploitation that it took to build those days).

Ralph's locality up the mountains in Austria is a nice physical location. But, hmm, Austria is just another European country with the stale politics that affects the whole continent

Nick I think you are going to find fault with every location on this planet.
Each and every one has its good and bad points.

I personally prefer the land of my birth - Australia. Would love to go back there and live in the countryside. But, again, Australia has it's government idiots just like the US does.

If your well and truly sick of the UK (I personally love it and spent 8 yrs there) try an island somewhere - I hear there are few in the middle of some of the oceans here on earth - where there are no politics, few people who care about politics and a laid back warm and wonderful lifestyle.

Only thing is you would probably have to buy it and have enuf money to have supplies shipped in. Hmmmmm............. got a few mill lying around?

Hey, just a thought!:D

Yeah, there are some islands that have their attraction. That's if they don't disappear under the sea soon, if all we are lead to believe comes to pass. Hmph.

Awe! I can't believe you said that!

At least 5 year olds can play "share".
