A friend of mine showed this to me today and I was floored. The cult says they have the answers to perfect communication. I'd like to see them match the display in the video. Note there are no saddle, reins or any other "gear" used by the rider.

Warning: Don't try to do this at home, folks!

This made me cry as well. When I was young I wanted to work with horses like that now I am probably getting too old and not enough money to do so.
Before I loved cats, horses came first. I will see if I can go riding this summer. I have not been on a horse in years.
It is not just the church the reason why. I lived a life of abuse since I was born. That is why I choose what I do now.

My wife started up again with horses long after we left the SO. It is never too late. Really - in fact the help available for training using natural horsemanship methods has never been greater. You can check out some of it on our blog:

Nice. I would like to go riding again sometime.
I have a new viewpoint on animals. Trip my bestest kitty taught me that. Alas he got sick so now I have a new bestest kitty Fancy.
I don't have the money or the place to have a horse. With the price of gas I sure sometimes would like to trade a car for a horse. But alas that is not feasible.
I will put it on my to do list to go riding sometime.

there is a wonderful bond established, when you (a human) join up with a horse. The human becomes the alpha mare to the horse.
Horse love is where it's at.

I loved the hard stop at 2.50.
He stopped as hard as physically possible on his back legs with a hand signal on his mane. Wow.
I have a mare who *used* to stop hard on her back legs on the rein, (nothing like the work in the rein free video).
Now she stops on her front legs as she's not had the practice, stopping on the front legs is more natural but harder on them physically. So now this girl has shamed me into putting more time into my horses. Damn.

Yes, fascinating. And did you look at the horse's ears? They "acknowledge" and "duplicate" each and every signal she gives. Excuse my (ab)use of scientologese here, these were just the words that came to my mind when I saw that. OP is right - THIS is communication.

It is incredible to watch that degree of oneness between rider and horse, and beautiful too.
I had a friend who used to do dressage and also judged it. She said that all the control comes from where the rider places their seat bones on the horses back and also the differential pressure from the riders legs on the horses body, and years and years of practise to perfect the response to the signals, although there is a natural response as well. My friend also said that the horse has to be incredibly athletic to do any of those moves. She used to limit the actual time she spent in training to about 40 minutes per day, otherwise the horse would be sore and could injure itself.

My mom started taking lessons when I was an equestrian. She was in her late 40s and loved it. Plus, spending time volunteering at a stables really cuts your fees. If you want to, go for it!!
