"Total Freedom" is an advertising term, it signifies exactly, nothing. and in fact what you get with cos membership is total mind enslavement. lrh is 'source' and whatever he said is
infallible. If you don't agree you obviously must have a misunderstood word you
ran across when reading what he wrote. The possibilty that some of what lrh was saying was A. in error B. Irresponsible or dangerous or C. the result of a genius who became severely paranoid and money obsessed as time went on,... is not acknowledged.
People make fun of catholics for believing the pope is infallible, but at least they dont picket your house or disconnect you from your family if you don't tow the official line, oh yah, and they have an actual deity, who isnt also the 'commodore' of his own pretend navy fleet...
Athough the cathollic church also had their own historical period of enslaving minds, destroying people and families, and coveting and taking the property of their parishioners, called the inquisition, ....they did get past it. And although they still seem to have an ongoing problem with the behavior of some of their priests, they have decided to own up to it. It's not behind them yet, but they still are one up on cos which never, ever, ever, takes responsibility for damage they've done, and has to be sued in court before they will even consider making restitution for their various crimes (http://www.scientology-lies.com/crimesindex.html) against parishioners and non-church members.
'total freedom' without integrity, compassion and ethics (actual ethics, not cos version) is worthless, perhaps even criminal. 'operation snow white' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Snow_White) was an exercise in cos's take on the practical meaning of 'total freedom' for example...
cos in being inflexible and refusing to admit there are serious errors in their policies, in their 'tech', and in the way they have treated people, is like a stiff tree in the wind, when it finally bends it is likely to snap and fall. Will cos change drastically and as-is and

Or will they choose instead to end up in the dust bin of history as the public becomes aware of conduct which they had attempted to cover up with slick PR and telling 'acceptable truths' (lies is what non-scios would call them)?
Will they at least 'try' to take responsibilty for the damage
they have caused? Or will there just be more 'justifying" and calls to "find the sp"...instead of just looking in the mirror and deciding it's time to come clean. There are parts of the 'tech' that are workable. But 'tech' doesn't need to be practiced in the cos to work. When faced
with the truth of ongoing overts by their church will the parishioners decide to use their 'total freedom' and just walk out the door and continue their auditing in the freezone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_Zone_(Scientology)). Maybe, it all depends on how quickly, and if... the cos can reform itself. Many, former cos parishioners are already here in the freezone... including many of the top tech terminals there ever were,
