  1. Re: Islamic jihadists behead six-year-old boy because he was Christian

Re the background check thingie- yes, the law changed in WA, too. But I was just out there jobhunting last winter and I'll tell you what- the employers are getting around it. They do still ask, they...

    Re: Worried about family member

Gotta be careful with that shit- can get sued.
  3. Re: Islamic jihadists behead six-year-old boy because he was Christian

Out here a few years ago, a Jewish center was targeted. IMO, didn't get anywhere near the amount of press it should have.
  4. Re: Heard from cult-even odder than usual...

I hae an elderly coworker who is very unfamiliar with computers, though we all have desktop pc with internet access on our desks. I told him about Outlook's "out of office"- and he was blown away....

    Re: AN OPEN CHALLENGE

    Very cool- truly.

I agree, too, that nobody should make those claims. Now, you know me. You know I have lots of wowie zowie beliefs. But, all the same, even if someone offers a service they...

Try thinking of it as territorial imperative.
  7. Re: WTH is Marty talking about? Reality Check - Sept 1, 2014

There's a difference between not getting a royal welcome and getting the opposite of a welcome. But I agree that if he expected anyone to kowtow to him, he really shouldn't have...

    Re: AN OPEN CHALLENGE

From what I recall, most FZers don't make all the promises Hubbard and the present day midgetment make. Some don't seem to make any promises about abilities and the like.

Re: I AM WRONG AND YOU CAN BE TOO !!!

Not just re Scn- though it certainly is very relevant re Scn- I really like the being wrong thing. Shit, half the stuff I've learned in my career was from screwing something up, seems like.

    Life...

    Re: AN OPEN CHALLENGE

I think that some people aren't too comfortable with the choices of others.
  12. Re: Old(er) age and loneliness vs. the internet and message boards

Seems like humans have impulses toward solitude as well as their genetic and societal tendencies toward being with others. It's very interesting to see how it can be for different people.

    I had a...

    Re: AN OPEN CHALLENGE

And I challenge Indies, FZers and others interested in Scn to not feel you have anything to prove. If others don't share your path, well, hell, that's the nice thing about not being in CofS. We can...
  15. Re: Oxford dictionary has entered a new word in the English Language: Side Boob

I think cleavage can be ok...the side boob thing tends to wig me out a bit.

It really depends on what else the lady is wearing.

When I was in my teens, I wanted to wear all kinds of utter crap....
  16. Re: Heard from cult-even odder than usual...

Thank you. This gives me a better insight into this. Things have changed a bit from when I was doing CF at that mission. This also explains why that lil' staff member dude couldn't really answer my...

    Re: The Great OT Challenge

As I've said before, to me, OT exists as a concept and ideal. Scn does not produce them.
  19. Re: Islamic jihadists behead six-year-old boy because he was Christian

Looks like Oz's doing ok, too. They just caught a terrorist this week or so. Some guy who was what, in the US, would maybe be called a "person of interest" in re terrorist stuff; they summoned him to...
  20. Re: Divers searching for Japanese sub "sunk" by Hubbard

I've obviously been reading too much Shakespeare and Elizabethan bios...when I see "divers"- I think of the Elizabethan and medieval spelling of "diverse".

Hubbard would have had a lot of trouble...

    Re: Worried about family member

About 15 years ago, some old guard critics and exes calculated this amount to be 350k. I know of people who've spent twice that. If you throw in the incredibly lengthy periods of time on OTVII with...
