I have indeed been "repaid" though it sat at AO for 18 years losing value. I experienced a lot of foot dragging and people curiously missing from post, but after 3 weeks of stalling I used the magic word and was handed a check in under 24 hours (amazing what happens when those folks are properly motivated).
I suppose I see now why I wasnt well received here, I had thrown in the towel years ago on the C of S and as such I have no venom left.

Jack- the reason you were not well received here because the posts you type are 1. poorly informed and 2. arrogant and condescending. Allow me to create an example, a demo if you will... You join a ladies knitting club and on your very first day you sit right down and tell the group that you think their craft sucks and that you can reinvent knitting better than ever, who is with me!? The ladies look up from their k1, p2 and say, "Take a hike, buddy." And you sputter and gasp and become offended, "Whaat?! Well fine! If you ladies want to knit in the same old way, that is your problem! By the way, I did get the craft store to refund the money I had on account for what turned out to be mythical yarn. I was trying for ages and the advice I received from you all really did the trick! Oh no, don't get me wrong! I am not thanking you I am just acknowledging that it did work but really you all should consider changing your approach to knitting, I know best!"

. Regarding what you referred to as, "not being well received here". I myself, am of the opinion that this is a 'community', which happens to contain a 'knitting club', among various other loosely associated groups, as well as numerous independent thinkers, speakers, and lurkers. However, the people in the 'knitting club' (freezoners) use the scientology-like tactic of drowning out speech they don't like, don't agree with, or that's contrary to their pocketbook or belief -- by ganging up like bullies, and flooding a thread with countless cryptic replies, and feeling quite justified about it.
