I have recently read a book entitled "Brainwash: the secret history of mind control" by Dominic Streatfield, 2006". Cited here for those interested.

Very interesting. In one chapter it describes Pain-Drugs-Hypnosis as a technique that was used (experimentally) by the CIA, shortly after the OSS was dissolved. No mention of Hubbard, of course, but begs the question: Did they get it from Hubbard, or did Hubbard get it from them?

The book effectively explores all the various techniques used to get people to cooperate, including sensory deprivation, stress positions, and good old fashioned physical torture, and assesses their effectiveness. Not for the faint-hearted.
