I was chewing the fat the other day about the prisoners of DM..... if someone really wanted to get out of Int, perhaps they could attempt suicide.
I recall somewhere here on ESMB a story about some lady who drank bleach and they routed her out very fast.
Then I suppose there's always that horrible disconnection thing hanging over their heads if they have family still in. Hmm, what a sad situation to be in. Poor buggers.

Okay, a comment from Jesse Prince has given me another line of speculation:
To have their finger falter on the trigger of a gun. Said as if this were a bad thing... so perhaps Shelley isn't the innocent victim that I have assumed she is? Perhaps, rather that having disappeared because David Miscavige had her killed, she is in hiding?Originally Posted by Jesse Prince (November 2, 2010 at 5:31 am: comment made over at Marty's farcical post-rationalisation blog)
What might she have done, that would make it a good idea for her not to be found? With a "finger on a trigger" perhaps?
So I'm brought back, once again, to wondering who killed David Miscavige's mother-in-law, Mary Florence Barnett? Because there's no way that was suicide. You don't shoot yourself four times when committing suicide. You can't continue to operate a rifle with one... two... three bullets in your chest.
Is Shelley happy to be among the disappeared, because she fears (or has been convinced she ought to fear) law enforcement?
I have no answers. Only the conviction that whichever way this vile mess plays out in the end, it's clear that Scientology is creepy as hell... and the world knows it.

Yes, you can fly, but first you have to break out of that cocoon. You are capable of self rescue at all times. No matter what Miscavige officially says about Shelly's whereabouts does not overshadow the fact he is making no effort to find her. The later reveals more truth than he realizes. Because simply put... if he truly cared for her he would be putting all his resources into locating her. Instead, he just makes an official statement, then returns back to the full-length mirror to admire himself and fantasize about Tom.
Bullies always reveal the truth based on their actions (or lack of actions) and not by what they say or claim.

So where the hell *is* Shelly Miscavige?
