Project Normandy is the code name for a top secret Church of Scientology operation wherein the church documented its plans to take over the city of Clearwater, Florida by infiltrating government offices and media centers.[1]

History

A 1977 FBI raid on Scientology headquarters uncovered internal Church of Scientology documents marked "Top Secret" that referred to their secret operation to take over Clearwater as "Project Normandy." The document itself states its purpose is "to obtain enough data on the Clearwater area to be able to determine what groups and individuals B1 will need to penetrate and handle in order to establish area control." The document says its "Major Target" is "To fully investigate the Clearwater city and county area so we can distinguish our friends from our enemies and handle as needed."[2] Gabe Cazares, who was the mayor of Clearwater at the time had made allegations that the city was being taken over. He even went as far as to use the term “the occupation of Clearwater.”

On 3 November 1979, the Clearwater Sun ran an article with the headline "Scientologists plot city takeover" and later stories claimed that the Scientologists also had international plans to take over the world.[3] The St. Petersburg Times won a Pulitzer Prize for one of their stories that exposed some of the criminal wrongdoings of the Church of Scientology.[1] Cazares also noted that he found it odd that a religious group would resort to using code names for a project to take control of a town, and called the project a "paramilitary operation by a terrorist group."[4]

In 1979 we moved from LA to Florida, near Clearwater. At the time Richard Tinney was the City Commissioner in Clearwater, trying to run for Mayor. I was asked by the “Church” of Scientology’s Office of Special Affairs to help. He had a program, “Save Sparkling Clearwater, Stamp out Scientology”. Milt Wolfe told me: “Tory, We came here on a lie”. (Long story re Hubbard set up–all “top secret” of course). “So WE cannot handle this. We did lie”, and R. Leiby was the main reported on all of this, so they (C of S/OSA) Hated him.

I went and talked to many people, and the result was RT was voted out. I escaped out of Scientology, after 30 years “in”, in July of 2000. Thank you to Tony Ortega who has continuously exposed this insidious organization, the phony “church” of Scientology.

There were a number of El Ron "Private/Highly Confidential/Top Secret" briefings taped over the years on the Apollo. I heard some of those tapes as part my background briefing for some El Ron "Missions" I did and my "Post Hatting" when I was in the "Inner Circle". On a couple of occasions I was one of the folks in the room.

I knew Jim Din. The depth of his access to and interaction with El Ron was far more than only but a handful of folks ever had. His veracity, IMO, is beyond reproach of anyone that did not El Ron or Jim Din.
