Default Is there ANY Hubbard tech we should keep and use????

There's still so much to consider.

I've gone from leaving the church proper in the last 6 weeks and still thinking some of the tech was okay, to doing more reading and now thinking the tech was all crap. Or at least mostly crap. Drug induced, crazy, paranoid, schizophrenic crap. Plagiarized from others and cobbled together with manic and/or depressed images and ideas from Hubbard's own freaky, creepy imagination.

Maybe there was/is workable technology in there plagiarized from others, but then buggered up by Hubbard into some mumbo-jumbo Magick whacky Voodo shit.

I know there are folks that still believe in the tech and use it. After reading L. Ron Hubbard: Messiah or Madman and some other things I can't remember the name of right now, I'm not willing to use anything from LRH right now. In fact, I've just packed up everything Scientology or Dianetics that I had in the house that I could see and put it all in storage.

In your opinion, is there ANY tech from this ...philosophy....that you consider worth keeping and using?? If so, please tell me what it is. Or, do you think it is all crap from a greedy, money-hungry, mind controlling cult.

Right now, I'm of the mind that it's all crap and needs to be all thrown out, along with any organized religion. It's a weird feeling because when I encountered Scientology 35 years ago, I was looking for a higher purpose and was studying other things, too. So, now being repulsed by what I consider having been involved in a cult all these years and now repulsed by the thought of involvement in any other organized religion, and not being willing to trust any other "technology", it all leaves kind of an emptiness that I'm trying to resolve.

    What do you think?

I agree. I came to the same conclusion that anything that is Hubbard was a way for him to take control of your pocketbook, life, mind and soul. I therefore have thrown the baby out with the bathwater. The baby and the bathwater is corrupt and poison.

    dude. DUDE!

Hubbard plagiarized many sources. Scientology/Dianetics is a TRAP. However, it does have "workable" bait that gives you wins. Those wins are not-for-nothing. Those wins come from abreaction and cognitive flooding, and the techniques date back to Freud, with some Korzybski cleanup, then slathered with sciency sounding words.

Go back to Freud. Then read Korzybski. Or simply read "Beyond Psychology", by F. Gerbode, hisself a former scientologist (and psychiatrist), who took the bullshit and cult out, and left the valid, therapeutic in.

    Dude.

I think, if you can't tell the difference between what should be kept and what should not be kept, then possibly you should not keep any of it.

I found contact assists good, used them on my kid after leaving and on myself if I stub my toe.

I doubt very much that he 'invented' it though.

The rest I flushed away a long time ago.

I have come to believe that maybe most of what is worth keeping of Scientology are the things that LRH had stolen from others! I would keep the ARC triangle, comm formula, some of the Study Tech, the grades, provided you remove any reference to L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology and OT levels.

LRH was a genius and a criminal paranoid con man filled with his own ego. He had some beautiful insight like "What is Greatness" but he acted 180° degrees from it with the intention to destroy anybody stepping on his way.

Even if I find useful and do use bits and pieces of the Tech, I'll not promote LRH or Co$ because, as a whole, people have everything to lose with them.

IMHO, it's a bogus therapy full of hidden traps and tricks. I want no part of it. It is a needle, wrapped in cotton wool.

I suspect that at one point you were probably a pretty firm believer in the tech, and not too long ago (correct me if I'm wrong). You've changed your mind very quickly!

I wouldn't expect, if I were you, for your opinions about the tech to be constant. We are always evolving new and differing opinions. In my opinion, there are some parts of the tech that may have some valid applicability for most people. Other parts, like the OT levels, seem to have much weaker success rates. And you have to consider all the people that stay on the OT levels not because of the wins they receive, but because of control mechanisms implanted in the CoS by Hubbard (i.e. not being able to tell your friends that you're getting "jack" out of the OT levels; constantly being pulled up by forced/fabricated reports of wins by others who took the same levels; false claims of super OT powers, etc.).

Others seem to modify their own behavior and/or attitudes (or even their personalities) in accordance to the effects they expect to receive from the OT levels, and then they give the OT levels all the credit - a sort of self-inflicted change that ultimately does not come from things like removing BTs. These are the people who take longest, in my opinion, to change their minds about the existence of things like BTs.

Just out of curiosity, why do you think you "stayed the course"? It is probably liberating to understand your own personal control mechanisms when it comes to such things, as well as how it is that Hubbard's control mechanisms were able to keep your wallet empty. ;)
