I get really tired of hearing about how the lower bridge has value. The lower bridge has the sole purpose of getting the PC to reach for more bridge. The fact that many people improved their circumstances as a result of a good intentioned auditor being interested and caring about his PC is not worth the long term and intended result of Scientology technology. Default ep. 4 books, books and the Birth Day game!

(Let's see.. I was born in 1967... GAT was released May of 1996 I was in LA when it happened and only on staff or Scn. for a few months... Ok that means I was 29 at this point! Or maybe 28? Man! Time is so confusing)

I'm sitting in my favorite reading chair in my house. Looking at the volcano on the front cover and the words " #1 best selling self help book!" Sigh, I've read I don't know how many "#1 best selling self help books" including real stuff like The Tao, the Geta (don't know spelling, full name means 'song of God' It's an early Vedic, another word I can't spell, hymns), Satanic Bible and the "Dreaded" Necronomicon (at the time I thought it was real), I even read thru the Holy Bible once even though at that time I was not a Christian.

So what could this book have to offer me?

I opened it up, started reading and a phrase jumped out at me. It went something like this "Dn. is an adventure, treat it as an adventure and may you never be the same." Wow, that hit home! I was going on an adventure of ME! When I got into it, it seemed that this Hubbard guy had figured out the mind! If the reactive mind is the base of unbased fears and psycho- illness then getting rid of it would become a better person, think faster, I bet my meditating would be better maybe I could even raise Kundalini! (known as the firey serpent, coiled three and 1/2 times around the spine. It's been said the those who awake the "serpent" could heal without touching, see things from far away, astral project, etc etc) Thus was my thinking at the time.

I couldn't figure out how someone (Hubbard) who had "nailed" the human mind so aptly would go on to screw up and make a religion. I was not impressed that a lot of celebrities where in it. I mean actors spend most of their time in make believe. Playing people who aren't them selves in places and events that aren't real. When they do interact with the "real" world they are waited on hand and foot and treated special because they are celebrities. So, if celebs were in Scn. it must be a candy religion with not much to offer. (looking back it seems I saw things much more clearly back then - the celebs in Scn. are kept away from the realities of Scn. and it is candy with nothing to offer)

Didn't like Scn. I wanted to be a Dianetics auditor however. I had visions of opening my own practice in my home town. Just spend the day giving sessions to people. I figured after I cleared my first three or so people I would know enough to open an office and start charging for the service. I could even help them with meditation and nutrition and even physical exercise if that is what a person needed. Oh, yes! I have found my path! I assumed no one was doing Dn. anymore because it was written in 1950. After I got through reading it the first time I called the number on the back and wow they answered (yes I did see the old TV commercials but hey, it's just a book) and I found out people still used the processes!

I found out that there was a mission in Wichita and a church in Kansas City. I didn't want to go to any cranky little mission (even though it was closer) I wanted to go to an Org! So, I drove to KC one weekend, talked with a staff and was surprised when I pointed to a bridge and asked "where are you on that?" thinking 'he's on staff, surly he's pretty high no the bridge he's been on staff for a whole year!' he pointed to something way off the bridge. He pointed to a label in very small font that said Book 1 auditor.

Had my first Dn. session, bought a book, I did an OCA and IQ test. Then was told that they were Celebrating LRH's Birthday next week so I should come back and see it. I decided to do it.

I was reading more and more Scn. and Dn. books and starting to think Scn. had something to offer.

I went to the LRH Birthday event. Got to see the first airing of "Orientation" and thought "that didn't answer all my question about Scn. They said it would answer all my questions about Scn. Not a good claim to make." I saw DM talk about the Scn. website and how great it was. Then came the Birthday game (I might have the events in the wrong order). But there I saw the Wichita Mission win the game! They were the best Mission on the planet! I decided if they are that good maybe I'll start going to them...

    To be continued...

I also was introduced through a small Mission (in my case, in San Antonio, TX. then later the W.P.B Fla Mission). And like you, I wasn't interested in this 'religion' scn. I was a devout Catholic convert at the time and had no interest.

I also only wanted more of this Book 1 Auditing (Dianetics).

And again, like you, I was asked to attend a lecture of some sort at the nearest Org (can't remember...was it Houston Org?) It was like a 2 hour drive each way, I do remember that part.

    But....keep going....

Default Ep. 5 Wichita, then LA

I went to the Wichita Mission to check it out. It is a really pretty place. I guess Kristie Alley was an interior decorator before moving on to become a movie star and she really did some great work in the mission (a little too great - we were not allowed to move anything she put down. I use to hang out in Div. 6 a lot, there were two staff that ran it. I was always at the desk (really a table) of the ... can't think of the title she was just under the PES.... right out side the PES office. One day we were talking about how nice it would be to make some MEST changes around the place when Sheri said "Kristie won't allow that in fact the table I'm using as a desk was only suppose to be pretty and never was suppose to be for any work") I use to joke the org board at the Wichita mission ran Staff - Mission Holder - LRH and at top Kristie Alley.

Anyway the PES showed me all around took me upstairs past the auditing rooms to the Execs offices and showed me the trophies they have accumulated over the past year. I remember thinking while I was standing there "wow for winning the Birthday game this place seems a little empty."

Back at the PES office she showed me the different courses I could do. This was before the big push to route every new person onto the Personal Efficiency course where the norm was "Never let them make a choice! Simply tell them the course you will be doing is ______" Well, I liked the Personal Integrity course.

I guess I went down next week or so and the ED wanted to talk with me. He stated that they thought I would make a good staff member. He said that I might as well be down there were there are 1,000's of people to audit instead of my home town where they never heard of Dn. or Scn.

Oh boy! This was my chance to have a life of helping people! I would be around some of the most clear minded people on Earth and I would be helping to achieve the aims of Scn.!

-> The people at the mission were really cool. The mission was a year old, they had won the Birthday game and looked like a success story in the making. It's history is neat too the ED and his wife were Scn. and they started a group in there house. This expanded pretty fast and they would have cars lined up around the block. Mainly they did Book 1. Kriste Alley wanted to do something for her home town so she decided (or got talked into) starting a mission. SME WUS figured there was already a good group down there they just needed to become a mission. Well, they convinced Nick to stop his successful Chiropractor business to become ED in the new Wichita Mission. His wife became the Book Store Officer (they were both clear at the time and as far as I know they still are). The number of clears they had went ED, BSO, PES, I believe they had an OT III as an auditor and the Mission Holder, Peggy Crawford was OT V I think when I started by the time I quit, 6 years latter she was on OT VII she was the only staff to move up the Bridge in any significant way. Maybe she had to be so OT b/c she was also "holding" Sacramento and Memphis.

So, I picked up and moved to Wichita. This was a big city to me, appx. 300,000 people I didn't think I would ever live in such a "large" place as this.

I can't really remember much of my first week on staff but I clearly remember the end of the first week...

There was a big ta-do at the mission. The Sea Org, RTC and SME WUS were a-comin' to town to give the mission a big old trophy and make speeches.

I was still myself in those days (I just learned after starting my story and interacting w/ people on this board how much of my old "pre-scn." self I've lost) and would talk to any one b/c I was curious about everything.

Talking to every one, looking bright and smart got me noticed by the Sea Org. and and not too long after that I moved my butt to a truly large city LA California.....
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Jesus.

    Gettin' good, keep goin'!

Yep, just FYI about several years before Nick and Elaine started doing their Book I Auditing, my husband was approached to be the ED of the Wichita, Mission. He accepted it, I think. But then it didn't go nowhere or something, and moved to Fla (where he got involved there if you read some of his story here:
    http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthrea...obthesp&page=6

    (He should finish it).

Anyways....yeah so then Nick took it over. And Kirstie started her Mission (and yeah, imo, it IS a bit TOO *much*) and the rest is history, eh?

    Default Ginger Oil

    NOW WHERE IS R6?
You can make ginger oil very easily. Just take a bottle of extra virgin olive oil or whatever oil you like to use, thin slice some fresh ginger and drop it in the bottle, cap the bottle and turn it over a few times to mix it up, let it sit on the counter over night or maybe more or less depending on how strong you want it. Turn it upside down to mix it up every now and then. If it's too stong, add more oil. If it's not strong enough, add more ginger. When it reaches your taste satisfaction, strain the oil and use the ginger from the oil in something you're cooking.

Or, you could just try adding some dry powdered ginger to your oil and turn the bottle over a few times to mix it up.

Or, you could spray your popcorn with whatever oil you wish to use and then sprinkle a very, very, very small amount of powdered ginger over the popcorn and mix it up.

I know what you mean about still being yourself in those days. I was just looking at that myself, this morning and realised that my communication was very free before Scientology. The longer I was in Scientology the more supressed my communication became. Eventually I couldn't even talk freely to an auditor. I was afraid to originate, even about some wins because I was afraid of being judged and sent to ethics....that really screwed up my auditing. There's no way a person can make case gain in an environment that is unsafe to speak for fear of repurcussion. It was bad enough at AOLA, but it was even worse at Flag. I spotted a ton of charge on that this morning. I'm gradually unwinding from all the enforced communication and pressure from the Church. Gad, it takes a long time to get over all this stuff....I've been unlocking the gates for over 5 years now and just when I think I've done it, here comes more stuff bubbling to the surface....more gates to unlock and stuff to look at to get out of the C of S mental prison.

By the way, I think auditiing is great when it's actually used to free a person, and not used to overwhelm the person, or implant the person with data to control them or make them into a ronbot.

Thanks for telling your story so far R6. I'm really looking forward to reading more of it.

Wow! couldn't even talk to your auditor! And at FLAG!? Where an hour of auditing cost you an arm and a leg... That's just wrong.

I've read that telling your story here is therapeutic. I didn't think it would have too much of an effect on me. I was in for "only" six years. But going thru my life I can see the chances that Scn. made.
