    Default Scientology Service Facsimiles

This is a thread to collect up all the Service Facsimiles spouted in Scientology.

First a couple of definitions, in my own words, check em out for yourself if you disagree:

Computation--a statement of "if you do such and such, then so-and-so will happen. Sort of like a formula in chemistry.

Service Facisimile—that computation worked out by a person that helps them survive (they think) and when looked at is usually as full of holes as Swiss cheese.

Scientology Service Facsimile (SSF): That computation generated by the C of S (by LRH or COB or just the arbitrary being applied to someone at the moment) which seems to help them survive but is still full of holes.

Now the insidious thing about the SSF is that it seems so right when you learn it that you have to step away for awhile before you can look at it and say, “OMG, that’s nutsl!”

I will start with what hit me today as being a serious SSF:

“The price of freedom is constant alertness, constant willingness to fight back.”

(I remember long ago the wording was “vigilance” instead of “alertness.” That would be like the difference between knowing what is really going on in another country so you can work to prevent future upsets, and just suddenly noticing that they are coming in hordes across the Rubicon so you have to send out the Roman legions to fight them off.)

Regarding the logic of this "Price of Freedom" statement: the mess this planet is in, is because we all fight back. We have a “Fight at the drop of a hat” culture and it has been going on for thousands of years.

The better, logical, sane wording would be, “The price of freedom is constant vigilance, constant willingness to HANDLE.” This would work between countries, bosses and employees, husbands and wives, parents and kids. We might actually get somewhere as a civilization.

If you’ve come across any more SSF’s, please share them. ML, M6

    Excellent post! Very correct observation.

In my opinion, the "church" has become one, big, giantic ser fac. It dramatizes all the classic descriptions of a ser fac:

What was once right about it, is now wrong about it.

It substitutes thoughts and ideas instead of truly being there.

It makes itself right by making others wrong.

Its the hole from which sanity drains.

A different thread correctly addressed "what Scn gives, it then takes away". The ser fac tech is a perfect example. I gotta give Elron credit on his ser fac tech. There is a tremendous amount of truth to be learned by understanding the anatomy of a ser fac. BUT...we were all groomed to be walkin' talkin' ser facs when we were "in". What a bummer.

Sometimes that which I highlighted in your post is a SSF.

    ML,

    Alph

PS: Scientology IS a Service Facsimile prepackaged for those too lazy to make up their own.
Mom's gonna fix it all soon.

Alph only highlighted one thing M6. I don't know how to include a quote in a quote so I've rehighlighted it for you.

The SP mental vortex is a service fac too..

"If you think you're an SP, you're not."

This 'saves' the hapless scientologist from thinking he's an SP.. He thinks..

Ask not what Scientology can do for you, ask what the F#*¤CK is going on!

    Way brilliant, M6.

As I was reading your post I came to the exact same conclusion as your wording that replaces "fight back" with "handle."

And of course, this stupid SSF of the CofS is what is causing it so much strife to the extent that it is destroying itself.

We only have to observe the reaction from ESMB to the "fight back" attack on Emma, or the reaction against the CofS from its attack on Carmel and the Ozzie gang that led to the exposure of Scn insanity in parliament and on national TV to see how unworkable that fixed solution is

AS many here are wont to say: "They (the CofS) just never learn from their mistakes!"

SSF: "If the preclear does not purchase a 12-intensive package, then there is out-tech in the folder."

I heard this very often over the years. Any disagreement landed me with lower conditions many, many times. The fact of one being flat broke does not come in anywhere unless all credit cards are maxed out, the 401K is shot and no weasel loans can be found.

    (Highlighted was the ML.)

Okay, so now I gotta ask, what is a Service Fac about the letters ML? I am completely clueless here and would really like to know AlphOhm's viewpoint on this. Could be interesting.
