I really don't want to read through this whole thread, but I'll comment on the original post.
There really wasn't much yelling and screaming when I was in the S.O. back in 80-82 roughly. Much more relaxed until just at the end.
I was at flag for the big new year bash of (I think) '81/'82. Did anyone else attend that dinner for all staff that had the deer ice sculptures? I remember the flag mess hall was less than what it was a month before and after that one dinner.
It was around this time that I first heard serious yelling and screaming. It was coming from one of the cabanas or whatever in the back by the pool as I walked by one evening. It was Diana Hubbard-Horwich doing the screaming. I recognized her voice from previously.
I know that it was around the time of the famous mission holders massacre at flag, but I really didn't stop to listen long, as I always had other things to do. Who doesn't in that environment? I just remember that she kept yelling 'my father' at regular intervals in her rant. An obvious attempt to position herself as closer to 'source' than whoever she was fighting.
Well, we know how that came out, don't we?

Yelling, screaming, face ripping, being dragged down corridors, punching ... was and is common in the SO, I've experienced my fair share and all under the guise of religion and freedom.
This behaviour is conditioning at its best... it instills fear into individuals so they become compliant and subservient.
Although when I questioned the Snr CS AOSH ANZO, Wayne Peachey, as to why such hard core discipline is being used on SO members, he responded by saying 'It's to bring the team together'.
To which I reply 'well if you need that kind of hard core discipline to bring the team together and Scientology has all the answers, well we are in real trouble'. At that point he went quiet and the phone call ended not long after.
My daughter Fiona tried it with me when I wouldn't pull into line on the subject of Scientology and when I gave back to her what she was giving to me she crumbled because it's not in her nature to be mean. She was using the same mechanism she used on other SO members, staff etc to get compliance.
Sadly the cult gives these young adults, CMO, SNR Exec positions this false perception that they have power and can use it regardless. The yelling and screaming is an apparency of power, control and responsibility and really it is worthless and sends these young ones on a major power trip that will short circuit eventually.
When they finally come out of the SO into the real world there will be hard lessons for them to learn and life does have a tendency to teach one lessons.
Cheers

Hey Alanzo, I quoted your post because I like it. I like it for several reasons, one of 'em being an exception to my "rule".
My "rule" is: Yelling and screaming, in almost all cases, is a statement of mental and/or physical weakness. "I just HAVE to scream and yell, because I don't have the slightest clue about how to deal with the situation I'm in." "I'm powerless."
Usually, that's the only statement one can find behind yelling and screaming, but in your case, it was a great statement of "I take my power back, no matter what. Deal with it!"![]()

The yelling and screaming was normal when I was in. It got very very tiring.

A 1983 affidavit by an ex-staffer of the Toronto org contains this gem about Scientology ritual yelling:
Source: http://www.xenu-directory.net/docume...bit73.html#p17The Executive Director of the Org, in an effort to push the staff to higher production, on May 15th, 1981, walked throughout the Org with a sign on the back of her clipboard, upon which was written, "Go for blood". This sign was in reference to a staff meeting the previous week (May 8th, 1981) where all staff were required to yell repeatedly after the Executive Director, "Go for the throat. Go for blood. Go for the bloody throat".
