This post is on a couple of different levels. First you must know "Nineteen-eighty-four," by George Orwell (pen name of Eric Blair). Winston Smith is the main character of the book!! In case anyone gets confused by the nonsensical words "vertical expansion", it's standard Scientologese hyperbole. From usage (Miscavige Event-speak), it is obvious that it simply means "Oh, a stat went up!"
