L Ron Hubbard's Punitive Aversion Hot Buttons
L.Ron Hubbard in his lectures tapes , bulletins, policies employed punitive aversion hot buttons and empowering hot buttons to influence his audience. Switching/ bridging between the two, the/his/ this technique mirrors his Public Relations /Intelligence techniques, with the statement what the public love thats us , what they hate thats them.
In Dianetics he describes in various ways the subject of hot buttons , how they influence personal relationships & societies and he is correct, the mechanism is aversion punishment. There are many synonyms used to explain these hot buttons in Dianetics, and at one point he states if you knew someones restimulative hot buttons you could render a person unconscious if you just kept punching them, good repel/ surrender technique.
Punitive Hot Buttons are the handy batten/tazer on the utility belt of every Office of Special Affairs personnel that Ron humbly tendered to them as a gift to shock whomever was the target into submission.
Ron turns actions into a personal conditions, verbs into nouns to enable covert punching of his target. Suppress becomes suppress-ive. He chose terms to shock and punish. When you are repeatedly being punched , rarely do you analyze the knuckles on the fist, or the barrel of a gun.
Hubbard coined punitive phrases like Merchants of Chaos to represent the reporters and the media , and The Psychs for the Mental Health profession, the parlor trick for hypnotism.
Then in The Introduction to Scientology Ethics( from the lectures of the Saint Hill Special briefing course), he skims rapidly over twisting relayed information and hostile communication in his 12 traits of an anti-social personality. He doesn't confess his/this covert technique using punitive hot buttons to manipulate. He says he has no pitch- no twisted motive.
For someone who said he only wanted to assist his fellows, i doubt very much he just forgot to show where he uses the power of this technique on his general public.
Not new news but these Punitive aversion words/ phrases in a punitive tone, are placed throughout the most read document in Scientology 'Keeping Scientology Working" or KSW1
