Default Temporary injunction bid dropped by CoS

Didn't see this posted anywhere else, but damn - this is good news, eh?

    http://www.tampabay.com/news/sciento...debbie/1214868

and another version of the report:

    http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/loc...le-3241791.php

Did the CoS really think this stuff wouldn't come out in court proceedings and the press? That baffles me.

Go to the thread "Debbie Cook's Trial" - last 20 pages are discussion of the case being dropped.

This is my favorite part in the Tampa Bay article:

But church attorney George H. Spencer Jr. said his clients had heard enough.

"As we had predicted and feared, the defendants and their counsel have used the court's own process to make numerous gross, false and disparaging statements, which if made outside the courtroom, would clearly have violated the agreements," Spencer told District Judge Martha Tanner.

He withdrew the church's request for a judge to enforce the non-disclosure agreements until the end of the lawsuit. He said ending the hearing prevented Cook from "further using the court as a pulpit."

Good grief - if you predicted that the defendants would use the stand for a bully pulpit on abuse in the church, why did you pursue this course?

Miscavige should find some lawyers that are smarter than he is. It can't be that hard.

Smillia, your picture is reminiscent of the clear water bridge debacle a few years ago: http://www.sptimes.com/2004/02/28/No...at_bridg.shtml
I guess the concrete couldn't handle OT vibes emanating from the Flag land base.

Miscavige didn't tell them what was at stake and what it was really about - so of course they were caught with their pants down. It wasn't the lawyers fault - it was Dave's "need to know" mentality and not bringing them up to speed. He basically wanted revenge so he told his lawyers to "sue the bitch' and they did what he wanted - hired some contract guys and set them loose.

I guess, ol Dave needs to redo his Super Power - his Consequences rundown is unflat.

I wonder how it really went in that end-of-day-one conference between the lawyers and Miscavige. Maybe Miscavige "saw sense" and decided it wasn't worth it to continue. Although he's not been too good at seeing sense lately.

But maybe the lawyers said no way were they going to continue looking like idiots and DM had violated bigtime the contract the lawyers had signed by lying to them, and they were finished with the case. They would work out a PR line to try and save the Church's face if the CofS made nice with them, and if the CofS played it hostilely they would just dump them publicly and say why.

Care to tell us a time when David Miscavige was ever good at "seeing sense"? After watching the actions of this cult for a few years, I can't say there were any actions that illustrated his ability to be a reasonable, sensible human being.

Looks like Miscavige has become Troll Bait. He really should know and understand the Streisand Effect by now.

Troll Bait: Someone whose opinionated, volatile, easily offended, insecure nature makes them super-easy targets.

Example: Bieber/Twilight fangirls are easy troll bait because they take ANY negative remarks about their "god" as a personal attack and will violently attack expecting the trolls to stop and make themselves stand in the corner but their attacks never cease, troll feeding ensues.

Streisand Effect: when someone decides to ban or censor something, and that attempt to make something go away, makes it even bigger than ever before, or ever planned.

    Example:
Dj danger mouse's gray album in which he remixed the vocals from jay-z's the black album and the beatles white album. when emi sent a cease and desist letter to danger mouse the internet community created an intense distribution campaign.
