This happened abut eight years ago, but I wouldn't be surprised if it still does.

I don't know the details of how they were stopped from leaving, I was too annoyed by that point in the conversation to care to ask.
Well, there is a difference between being "detained" or handled to stay for more service and being thrown in a room and locked in. The former happens all the time. The latter, outside the SO at least, is a less common occurrence. But yes, it happens. And you're right, it doesn't always make the news. I can think of a few Type 3 watches that I knew of that I've never seen anything about online.

There might be a few that are being "detained" by threat of loss of their and mankind's eternity and conned into believing that they should stay because Scientology is the only road out. Conned is conned and defrauded is defrauded.

The con goes on.....NOW and NOW and NOW.....

Do you really think that most of the people on this board and in Scientology are being physically held against their will?

When I was leaving Flag, after having been pressured to extend my stay twice, they didn't "physically" hold me against my will -- but they did they next best thing. They took my luggage, put them in an unused office, and locked it. I either had to wait for them to let me have them back again or walk away without them.

This was after they called my airline and rescheduled my flight -- without my prior knowledge or permission.

Granted, this was 15 years ago. But anyone who thinks things have gotten better since then is delusional.

I think the fact that it ever happened or happens is appalling enough. Remember the inward facing spikes at Gold. I was all happy that OSHA made them take those down, except that someone pointed out that some of the spikes are still there.

If anyone was ever abducted and kept from leaving- which we know has happened- then it would continue. The cult does not reform.
There are other methods out there besides Scn and Dianetics, you know.

Most of it is done through psychological pressure.
But where's the boundary actually? In the SO we couldn't just leave the base as we wanted...and the security guards going around the base...isn't that a kind of detention?

    A prison by any other name is still a . . . . .

This sounds terribly similar to the Lisa McPherson story.

I'm convinced that my in friend (a public) was pressured to stay against his will at an advanced org quite recently. I don't know if there was physical or psychological force, and I've not asked because I can't admit to reading entheta. But I'm convinced that it happened.
