Thanks Lulubelle but I ain't great. I think what stops people from doing this sort of thing is lack of resources and also a great fear of witnessing decay and death. Maybe they don't want to confront their own end and seeing someone else's just brings it closer. And of course it's a lot of work.
Monty the dog just got back from his morning walk. In the past two days when I have been feeling particularly gloomy, he's stuck very close by me. He prefers to lie on his bed or carpet, but if I'm sitting at the desk or the table, he'll sit on my feet on the bare floor. When both my husband and I are around, he'll share his golden chubby goodness with both of us pretty equally. Dr Monty, a great therapist!
Again, thanks all for listening. It's close to the end now so it's kinda hard. But I keep reminding myself there's nothing special about it, it's gonna happen to us all though perhaps not quite this way.
How astute of Monty. Dogs especially respond to the emotional energy, my old kelpie used to do the same.

I don't know Chris but he's lucky to have such great friends as the two of you.

Chris banjo.jpg (click for larger image)My dear friend of 40 years, Chris Duffy, died peacefully tonight (24th July) at 6.45 pm at Caritas Christi hospice, surrounded by his close friends and family. He was serene and accepting and was loved by many. Chris was an exceptional man -- an extraordinary musician, a man with wide interests and a deep well of knowledge, a gourmet and fine cook, a lover of the quirky and the fine. We will miss him very much but we know he's up there somewhere having a jam with Doc and Earle. Be at peace, Chris, you were a great friend and a witty, idiosyncratic and very fine musician.
Chris's words about the pic:
Chris's CD will be finished this week and released at a big tribute/memorial concert on Sept 23rd.Very tongue in cheek, typical Chris.
Well you know, banjo music is serious business. Performers who look happy get treated as lightweights.
Rest in Peace Chris and hugs to all who helped make his last days full of love and support.
