Default Differences and Simularities between the Cult of Scientology and other REAL CHURCHES

I have been "church shopping" since leaving the CULT. I do want to find a new HOME for my spiritual growth. This is what I have observed so far:

    1. The real CHURCHES have real people in them - they are PACKED with families and people from all walks of life. The people look happy and are friendly. They don't "love bomb" and try to sell you anything.
    2. The real Churches have parking for nice cars and nice cars park in them. People are flourishing and prospering for real.
    3. The real CHURCHES have sign up activities for community service and other activities across the globe. They actually DO something of value instead of only in the glossy promo's but not in real life like the Co$.
    4. One church was in the middle of nowhere - and they offered services 3-4 times each Saturday and Sunday and were packed at each service. The courses they offered were waiting list only...no joke.
    5. People are more important than money in the REAL CHURCHES.
    6. I did not have to "pay" to have my transgressions forgiven in the REAL CHURCHES. That was totally free.
    7. The buildings were nice and they were HUGE. The only similarity. the difference - they were packed in the REAL churches - the Cult buildings are totally vacant and empty.
    8. No one slaps anyone in the real churches.
    9. No human being is idolized - no HIP HIP HOORAY No photos or busts of a human being claiming to KNOW IT ALL and IS "SOURCE"!

Just thought I would give you an update of what is happening in the REAL CHURCHES verses the CULT of SCIENTOLOGY IDLE MORGUES.

There is good and bad everywhere - and I am sure there are people here who could give horror stories about religion and churches outside scno/co$. I won't.

What I will say is this: When I was at the lowest point in my entire life, and cut off from family and friends, and bereft beyond words, when I could not even reach out to anyone, and was considering ending it, there were Christians who reached out to me because they saw I was in need. They did not try to convert me, and they did not preach to me. They invited me to their kids plays and school fairs, they invited me to Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. They never pried or tried to investigate what was going on. They included me in their lives, and gave me comfort and belonging - without expectation. They never insisted I go to their church, or any church. They just saw a Soul in need of comfort and unconditional love, and they gave it, just as Christ would have - to a lost Soul - without any expectations.

It permanently changed the image and impression I had had of Christains and Christian churches . . . And later, so touched by this, I found my own way to Christ - in another town, my life recovering from devastation.

Lead by example. And practice what you preach.

Cautious as one crossing thin ice . . .
    (LaoTze-TaoDeJing, Chapter 15. 2nd verse . . . )

For Ray - I have not forgotten you, my friend
Or you Scott, this is for you too. I hope you are out.
    Kay is out . . .

I appreciate your post. I am having the same experience and thank god for real people that still have hearts and feel compassion!

I am studying the Bible...I am totally blown away about Adam and Eve eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil - the serpent - this is Scientology. The fallen angels (Xenu, body thetans and clusters). Scientology is the Science of becoming GOD - and it actually is EVIL disguised. How do I know - I was GODLESS and in HELL in the Cult of Scientology. This is what is true for me.

I noticed those things, too. Huge difference.

CofS has the money and wherewithal to be and have all of those things, but it chooses- and has always chosen- not to do so.
There are other methods out there besides Scn and Dianetics, you know.

Garden of Eden in Our Lives
We all know the famous story near the beginning of Genesis about the expulsion from the Garden of Eden. It’s clear that God expels Adam and Eve from the garden. But the Zohar asks a startling question: Who threw whom out of the Garden? Through a very artistic and radical reading of the text, the Zohar suggests that Adam expelled God from the Garden! This seems impossible or heretical. But one way to understand this is that in some sense we’re still in the Garden—we just don’t realize it because we’ve lost touch with the spiritual dimension of life. The challenge is to reconnect with the divine reality that we have banished from our lives, to welcome God back in.

I'm not a Christian and never will be, but I have met some lovely Christians who practice more than they preach, and they are inspiring people no matter what one's religion is.
