What kind of idiot chooses a conman who's been dead and gone for more than a quarter of a century, over beautiful Katie Holmes? What kind of a lunatic chooses to worship said dead conman in a 1950s UFO cult, when doing so inhibits his access to his daughter?

What kind of fool rolls over and accepts a punishing divorce settlement in order to protect his 'church', when that 'church' is so clearly going out of business anyway.

The only possible explanation is blackmail. All those years of confessional auditing have given the cult a lot of folders full of dirt on Tom Cruise, and they'll go public if he doesn't toe the line. The best response would have been "Publish and be damned!" but Cruise doesn't seem to be willing or able to face down David "Courtesy Flush" Miscavige.

I've been saying for a long time that Scientology ruins lives. I think it just ruined that of its leading advocate. Nobody who is 'in' is safe now.

The joy about the end of this is that Katie gets major custody of Suri (and not any immediate danger of being put in the Sea Org) but Tom gets liberal visitation.

Hopefully Katie has been made aware of possibilities of "parental alienation syndrome" that Tom, and his minions, might try to do with Suri.

I don't believe it - I think he is arrogant and is a true believer and he tried to steamroll Katie. Remember his line on the video about putting in ethics? I think he drew a line in the sand and she stepped over it and out the door. Then his marriage was toast.

I believe that he needed to put his house in order as Lulu Bell said, and (since he is in a condition of danger - entheta all over the media just before his next film comes out) he did the Jr. Danger formula and sent it up to COB:

1. Bypass habits or normal routines.

2. Handle the situation and any danger in it.
