KATIE Holmes pushed to have an "ironclad" clause included in her divorce settlement to limit daughter Suri's involvement with controversial religion, Scientology, a new report claims.
In the agreement, Suri will allegedly be prevented from attending any Scientology-related parties and will not be taken to any of the organisation's churches.

I don't have kids, and I'm not knowledgeable about them. The only thing I have to draw on is my own childhood.
When I was 6 I had already started second grade. I definitely wasn't being carried around. I would sometimes walk home from school by myself. I went to the library across the street from my school alone. I had been reading for a few years.
I know some kids mature later than others but she seems really....young for a 6 year old. But, like I said, I'm only drawing on my own experience.
That would fit right in with Holmes planning on leaving for the last year. She probably spent 6 months before that unsuccessfully fighting with Cruise about it.
I know I have no basis in fact to say this but I totally believe that there's more to this situation than just Suri's schooling. I think a compromise could be reached in terms of what she learns when she goes to school, especially with all the money and resources they have to educate her.
But if she has some kind of developmental issue? Which might involve medical help and medication? There's no way a die hard Scientologist and a "normal" person could ever reach an agreement on that.

Hold the phone there folks!
For Katie to do that, it would appear (to my mind anyway) that she has been VERY uncomfortable with the subject of Scn. Along with the no Scn part in the settlement. To get back in touch with her Catholicism may suggest she is just retouching home base or what is comfortable for her.. reground her sanity?
For TC to settle so quickly, there would have to have been some form of non disclosure agreement. Katie has said next to nothing publically at this point. He surely would have settled for nothing less. Only time will tell us that.
I must say that Suri does look just like any other normal kid, but for a couple of exceptions.
She is a totally indulged child of a celebrity family. That will set her apart from the everyday world just to start with.
The famiy cannot move without some security assistance from anything - nutters, papparazzi, other media, you name it. A very confronting experience for a young child. No wonder her mother carries her at these sardine can events. She can't even go shopping without a massive pack around her. Let alone light up a smoke. Jesus, I know how intimidated I feel driving down the highway jammed inside a pack of full sized trucks. Must look like that from a child's perspective.
Maybe she does have some disabilities. I believe not at this point. Just a family in extrodinary circumstances. Especially having a dad who can't take his hand off his penis whenever he passes a mirror...(erm, ahem....excuse me..) AND a child that can just please herself about anything, not to have real parental guidance.
Has this been Katie's major sticking point? It flies in the face of general christian beliefs/practices regarding children.

Ex-Scientologist: Cruise was top church recruit
For the secretive Church of Scientology, "there was no bigger recruit than Tom Cruise."
The top Hollywood actor's membership in the Church beginning in 1986 "was huge," says Karen Pressley - a former Commanding Officer of the Church's Celebrity Centre in Hollywood from 1987 to 1989.
"My job was to ensure that celebrities were recruited, that celebrities were well serviced within our organization, and also to open up new celebrity centers around the world," she told CNN's Kareen Wynter.
The high-profile marriage split between Cruise and actor Katie Holmes, has re-ignited media interest in Scientology's influence in Hollywood.

Scientologists believe Tom Cruise has telepathic powers
The 50-year-old 'Rock of Ages' star's devotion to the controversial religion was one of the contributing factors in his just-settled divorce from Katie Holmes-who bitterly objected to parenting their 6-year-old daughter Suri under the unusual guidelines of the controversial religion.

I expect all of that is the case but I also saw it as a deliberate message to Cruise, Miscavige and the world at large ... when she is (almost certainly) unable or unwilling to say anything publicly and after losing her real religion for 6 years and no doubt knowing ever since she met Cruise that he didn't respect it one little bit.
The message I took from her re joining her Catholic roots so quickly and either leaking it or knowing it would be leaked was along the lines of "Goodbye Tom Cruise, I've taken both mine and Suri's life back and you can shove scientology and all your hangers on right up your cultic jumper" ... I've no doubt that he knew exactly what message she was sending him.
Suri does come across as aged 6 going on 26 and that is never a comfortable thing to see in a little girl, but hopefully she can settle down now and 'normalise' as much as any child of celebrity in the US can.
From the moment someone becomes a scientologist they start to emotionally detach from those they once loved and treasured, they replace them with other scientologists, cultic lectures, formulas, scales, charts and 'processing'. Eventually all of that conditioning has to be undone if the shattered relationships are to have any chance of healing.
Scientology is a divisive cult that cannot deliver what it promises because what it promises doesn't exist.

"First of all - why do people keep assuming that Katie is de facto 'declared'? From a scientology viewpoint - what did she do that warrants her being declared? "
From their joint statement below. She is basically saying she dosn't share her husband's beliefs. Thats public disavowal. Also she went legal without permission.
"We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.”
