Katie Holmes Finally Dumps Tom Cruise (and hopefully Scientology)

According to TMZ, Holmes is the one who filed for divorce, citing "irreconcilable differences," and is asking for sole legal and primary residential custody of Suri. Their sources add that Cruise apparently did not see the divorce coming.

Tom didn't see it coming? One thing I like to say is that everybody has blinds spots. There are always things people see very clearly while there is some other area where people are clueless as to what's really going on. TC takes this to a new dimension. He's got half the world as well as lawyers and PR people telling him what's happening but it still doesn't sink in. He should donate his brain thetan to science.

I wonder how much the fact that he's acted batshit crazy in public will come into play here. He didn't really make a complete fool of himself during the last two marriages. Now at least there's evidence of batshit crazy that has been on public display.

The saddest part would be if she gave him an ultimatum and said The Cult or Me. Divorce SUCKS, no matter who's involved, but if this is best for her and her daughter, then good for her. Who knows, maybe he'll snap out of it & re-think his "religion". Sad day but hopefully Katie & Suri will remain together & not be forced apart as it appears Nicole & the two older children were.

He's always struck me as being the least intelligent Scino Celeb. When you combine that with being the most vocal, it's not a formula for success in PR land. I think he will eventually realise that Scientology has done him no good and leave. If he leaves the Scino Celeb thing is sunk. Might seem a long way off, but it might not be so far away at all. Come on Tom - wake up!

Its interesting she wants sole custody, that's playing hard ball in this big money divorces.

I wondered if Suri getting near school age might cause a split. My thinking was as she gets close to official school age Tom would probably insist on starting Suri's real cult education and if Katie had any backbone or sense she would walk away before letting her daughter get officially indoctrinated and sacrifice her education to the cult.

We shall see but I see the "sole custody" thing as a big clue. Katie might have been willing to go along with the cult BS for the sake of the marriage but she wasn't going to let her daughter's life be permanently shaped by it -- also I'm sure the cult, as always, was the 3rd person in their marriage.

Will be interesting if Katie makes Tom's belief and relationship with the abusive DM part of the divorce case -- as proof her daughter needs to be protected and kept away from Tom's "religion" for safety reasons. I bet the cult is all over this like flies on shit and poor Katie is dealing with more BS than we can imagine.

They got married at the end of 2006; this would have made it over at the end of 2011. My guess is that they have actually been split up for a while; it just wasn't announced until now.

I wouldn't expect any revelations about Scientology to come out of this. There's a lot of money involved and she without a doubt has a mega-NDA.

I read a post here a few weeks back that said that Katie had moved to a house nearby. Can't remember the details. I hope she gets her sparkle back - she's not looked very happy for quite a while.
