And who exactly were the "we" whom were battling against Nicole and the benefits of the children, in order to protect the abomination of a dead conman?

Makes me wonder if Marty and cohorts have ever heard of the Stockholm Syndrome, and how it might apply to their relationship with the conman.

Yes, the landscape has changed drastically. In September 2011, Ursula Caberta publicly joined Mark Rathbun and the Indies in their war against DM and Tom Cruise. From the Hamburg Press Conference of 7 September 2011:

That the crimes of David Miscavige occurring worldwide under his leadership,...

And Marty may have been able to get away with it in 2001 but can't get away with it now, hence he jumped ship. If Nicole was 1991 and Katie was 2001 Marty would be saying something completely different.
