Is it true that Scientology has taken over the Clearwater police force, or is that exaggerated??

At one time OSA was able to hire off duty Clearwater PD cops and pay them monster amounts to do security. Some were making, say, $60,000 / yr working part time as security for the "church". So yes they were more than a tad harsh on protestors.

But, all that got laid out before the city council and exposed.

So, do they - and have they - had some sway with the police ? Yes, but they do not own them.

In LA ? Crap. Sheriffs Dept seems bought & paid for until current top cop goes.

If TC (medal of honor winner) is seen to have done something to "pull this in", or worse leaves and like others is claimed to have been an SP all along, but hid it well. Even the true believers will need to look around a bit. Those that have a way out may take the exit, while those who feel trapped and those who see personal gain in scn will stay.

THis just continues the trend of shrinking membership with a higher concentration of self-serving, narcissism and eventually it really will be a game of musical chairs. Unfortunately, those who are trapped, will get further abused in the process.

Before the TC /KH media frenzy, the clams were putting out a ton of PR pieces. This activity is probably in overdrive, but has not yet been able to overtake the volume of negative attention.

The government is still feeling skittish from the Waco wacko debacle. The FBI incinerated the men, women, and children that they were trying to SAVE from that cult compound. There were a few other smaller cult stand-off's around that time (Ruby Ridge and another in Idaho) and both of those also had some unintended casualties, if I recall correctly (truly, I don't remember the specifics of those two smaller ones). Anyway, the Waco raid was on TV almost constantly, and the American public was fucking pissed at seeing the children cooked alive on TV every night for weeks on end. For what? Because some dude they were living with claimed to be Jesus?

20 years later, NO ONE in the FBI wants another flap like that - especially not over an eccentric group that uses a crude lie detector to get rid of space cooties.

That said, my guess is if the media is exposing legitimate abuses at Int base and using that angelic looking Suri as the Mockingjay, then there is something bigger going on. As in, the FBI wants the American public pissed off at the inaction. The FBI seems to know that it is dealing with a group that knows how to play the media, so they're taking the opportunity to wage a massive PR offensive before the real fun begins (at least, that is my highly educated guess).

CNN is talking about the MONEY in Scientology - total assets have more doubled. This is true - the membership was fleeced of retirement accounts, IRA's, Stock Portfolio's and savings accounts. Members went into debt to "double the assets" of the Cult. And now the buildings are sitting vacant - no new members. That is a fact.

Spokesperson for the "church" states that there are 4.4 million - new people get into Scientology each year. Really? Where are they. I have not seen one new person come into the Cult and stay for years! Not one!

Flag brings in $100 million each year. That is true - they fleece people at every step of their "routing form"

One of the objections to David Koresh wasn't just that he claimed - and got - all the women for his own sexual pleasure but he was also diddling some very young girls. And the feds went in mainly after fully automatic ( illegal ) weapons.
