When I was staff and public during the 1990s, it was bandied about by staff that Erhard had been branded as a SP, had been in the SO, and had pirated material which he squirreled to create his own technology, known first as EST and then The Forum, and then when the corporation bought Erhard's interest for similar reasons as some of LRH's, k nown as Landmark Education and The Landmark Forum. In the 90s I'd never been exposed to est or The Forum and had no basis on which to question or make a decision.
Well, several years after my involvement with Scn ended, I was "exposed" to Landmark Education, now the holder of whatever intellectual property constitutes Erhard's work, and that of his later collaborators. There is some business philosophy, and also life technology that is all dovetailed, similar to Scn. Except there are not really consumable printed materials. It's all accomplished in transformational conversation and minimal written work. I did their basic and advanced programs just as I did with Scn. Lo and behold, I don't find any more resemblance than there is between MANY, MANY personal development and ontological studies. Not only that, you do everything in a group at a tiny tiny fraction of the cost of Scn. So if Hubbard knew the power that was available through group auditing, doesn't it appear that it wasn't used nearly to advantage, especially for Staff benefit.
Not only that, there are not many similarities to the staff structure of Scn aside from the fact that any business has to have protocols and systems for registration, money handling, employee services, customer service, volunteer management, training, and whatnot. Similar to Scn, staff don't make much money (they do get minimum wage). There are very few staff and a LOT of volunteer work. Some key functions are comprised of volunteer teams.
And here is another truth: they don't deal with past lives. And when I was involved over the course of several years, both as volunteer staff and paid staff as well as a public, I saw as much, if not more, personal transformation take place in people, never having dealt with past life issues. That in itself is fascinating.
As a volunteer course supervisor (logistics, stats and volunteer staff management) I had ringside seats for witnessing the transformation of many lives. The power of group work is undeniable in this case.
If any of you ex SO ever saw Erhard amongst your ranks, I'd sure like to hear about it because none of his bio info, or people I know who know him have any knowledge of his participating aside in Scn aside from possibly a couple courses and/or books.
Just thought some of you might find this of interest. No I will not assert there are not any of the organizational adn societal or cultural issues that plague Scn staff and customers. There are. But the staff doesn't suffer from Stockholm syndrome and is not psychologically and physically beaten up when things don't go as well as it might.
But, this is just another case of horrendous slander and lies perpetrated by whatever Scn staff who saw advantage in downing a similar endeavor's reputation.
