    hunh?

nobody's jumping on what i said?

you're all mostly a bunch of pretty sharp bunnies aren't you? you've been going to the movies and reading reviews all these years and reviewers have pointed out inteligent sensitive sympathetic performances and then you've seen intelligence sensitivity and empathy. and rex reed has slobbered all over some pretty boy and you've seen crap and you've developed discernment

this flick is NOT going to scandalize ron

    au contraire...
I didn't drink the KoolAid but I sure did drink the wine
I wasn't on the spot but I sure did walk the line
You know I saw her coming but I didn't hear her go

    PINK SHEET

    1. Go to your nearest Ideal Org.
    2. Stand outside of it for 12.5 hours.
    3. Listen to the unsolicited, loudly given comments of pedestrians as they walk by, regarding Scientology, Tom Cruise & Ron Hubbard.
    4. Do a clay demo of what people said.
    5. Write an essay how the media portrayal of L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology has affected the average person on the street.

Seriously, Commander, you are out of touch with what is happening in the culture.

You can do it for 2 hours with the same result.

Or just ask ANYBODY who has spent any time near an Ideal Org. See what they tell you.

Down on the street you can learn a lot.

    Scientology in one word? HelluvaHoax!

I never felt as free as when I freed myself from "Total Freedom".

For offended Scientologists reading this blasphemy about L. Ron Hubbard---my apologies for talking about real life without lying to you, like Scientology, with goo-goo theta-talk. I know you don't have a floating needle right now. You're not supposed to.

this is exactly my point HH

CoS and ron are well scandalized in the public mind and there are a host of esmbers who think the flick is going to deliver the coup de grace

and the flick is going to do exactly the opposite

you nailed the situation in this unit of time

the flick will end this unit of time. period. and initiate a new unit of time

and i don't want the people on this board to be surprised by that. i especially don't want people to be surprised and hurt by it. or worse, blind to what's happening

now pay attention. don't change your position, posture, polemic or style. we're here in this unit of time. keep flogging me (and joking with me) as usual. if anything take it up a notch, give me your A game (you got a pretty consistent A game HH. AT is spottier, frequently repeating an earlier post nearly verbatim rather than coming in PT. GF is really cool with a great warble back and forth between floggin' and groovin') like jqpubhouse just did over on the trepidatious thread

but when the zeitgiest changes as it soon will be in PT with it. don't react. respond. don't take signals from me. your own response

PoohBear, dont hold your breath too long on this. Not because TC might have not like it that it would of stopped it from coming out. You are giving him way too much credit.

Oh no, it won't scandalize Ron. That happened long ago.

It'll just show what a megalomaniacal, narcissistic, paranoid asshole that starts a cult that looks quite a lot like Scn can do.

The public will be flooding the idle orgs after seeing this film.

"Scientology, well understood, is a very powerful thing. Poorly relayed, poorly communicated, monopolized or used exclusively for gain, it could be a very destructive thing." - LRH June 1955
+ He told me he was obsessed by "an insatiable lust for power and money". - circa 1980 Mayo on LRH =

yeah. someone, i think it was Sindy complained a while back when i addressed her as sugarplum in a RWQ. it's a word i like, i have to restrain myself totally from personal use and mostly from group use

apparently we now only get a brief window to edit a post. "...his osabot handlers handed him his exit line..." should have read "...handed mr cruise control..." i thought that a nifty little kvetch and was saving it for just the right spot then i blew it

three or four months back someone posted a very interesting poll (which would look good on this thread if someone could arrange it) showing american plus/minus opinions of various religions. most of course had strong positive differentials. i think the mormons had a weak positive and the moslems a (temporary, understandable) weak negative. then CoS was 62% negative 17% positive for a WHOPPING 45 point negative.

the current "unit of time" about to end clearly commences with the forced and coerced abortions. CoS critics have had the wind at their backs ever since, and VWD! you tucked the pigskin close to your belly and ran with it putting 45 points on the board

    but...

    beware...

the bard of avon endures not just for the majesty of his language but as he taught so well so many lessons one disregards at peril.

case in point: The Tragedy of Julius Ceasar

casca, cassius, brutus and the boys take el primo maximo out then place the corpse on a bier in the forum and proceed to tell the citizens why. brutus "this wasthe noblest roman of them all" is particularly eloquent in winning the mob. marc antony shows up and they're reticent to let him speak but ceasar's dead they've won the crowd and don't want to look bad denying the decedent's pal. marco opens claiming to have "come to bury ceasar not to praise him" (check out lord buckley's "spoken hip" rendition of the speech) and proceeds to rip them a new lower alimentary orifice both winning and enraging the romans.

    IMPORTANT OBJECT LESSON:

the crowd, vox populi, is fickle

this is a very different and very similar situation. it will not and cannot produce a spontaneous shift in the general poulace. it will reverse the wind

    prepare to strike your spinnakers...

anthony hopkins is one of the finest actors of our generation. look what he (as instrument of ollie's vision) did for nixon. what american of the twentith century was more villified? ...even before watergate. there was of course a break in the action when tricky dicky died but since hoppy's ...uhh...well...intelligent sensitive reading of his character the devil's wind has found other sails to billow. you might say i'm comparing oranges and parsnips as one is biopic and the other roman a clef but this guy in the trailer (did someone say it's walkin' phoenix? like the bird who immolates and rises from his ashes? like the phoenix lectures?) looks like a match for him if not better. and even worse he looks a bit like orson welles.

not that i'm a film critic. i don't know squat about cinema. i just like to go to movies

    and that screeching harridan...

anyone but me notice on sight the director's statement shifts the onus for the vastly loathed grotesquely applied "never defend, always attack" policy off lrh over to msh? nice shot. i neglected to mention the textbook cinematography. textbook camera angle and framing...

look at The Centerpiece of the Film. you are standing and ron, seated is looking up at you. in sublime lighting. i hate CGI and more than anything it's the lighting. man you use CGI and you are gouging my eyeballs with your thumbs. CGI thou art infernal monster conjured of a lightless dominion! Depart! Depart! ...ahem... getting both hands back on the steering wheel... when a director, his cinematographer, and the illumination techs are tight and sweet they're fit to visit the outskirts of vermeer's neighborhood

    and the line...

    the bottom line...

four words contracted into three, fusion of subject and predicate with archetype' six letters apostrophe and period

    "i'm a man"

    what is ron?

    ron is a man

    invictus

it matters not how strait the gate
how charged with punishments the scroll
i am the master of my fate
i am the captain of my soul

    tir a l'arc

'nuff to gag a maggot innit?
