The New York Times stated that Manson first got interested in Scientology while he was incarcerated in the McNeil Is land Penitentiary in Washington (Scientology has recruiting programs for prisons). From another report, Manson received about 150 hours of Scientology counseling in prison and at one point went psychotic. "Charles was very preoccupied with this new thing called Scientology", one of his friends from prison has told. "He thought that it could do something for him."

Manson himself has told that he learned the methods very quickly, because he had not been programmed in advance. Manson had lessons in Scientology by three of his cell mates. One of them, Lanier Palmer, was "Doctor of Scientology."

150 hours - that's twelve auditing intensives. That's quite a lot of auditing. If you were auditing that full-time - say 40 hours a week - that's nearly a month - much more involvement than I had previously understood Manson to have had with Scientology. Does anyone know what was audited? Do the FBI records say?

I saw an interview with one of his "girls". Leslie Van Houton, IIRC, and she described Charlie running Objective processes on his followers. No doubt about it. So, Charlie went thru Objective processing long enuff to be able to deliver Objectives to another.
The chick didn't call the processing "Objectives", she merely described what Charlie had her doing. I recognized the processes from her descriptions.

Thanks, Phenomanon! I might try and google her and see if I can find the interview. Surely objectives should only take 1 - 2 intensives? I wonder if he actually completed several gradechart actions. He apparently claimed to be a "clear".
