Everyone should feel safe enough with who they are as to be able to live their live's as they wish and in an open fashion. The fact is that not everyone is. No one has the right to bully another into living in a fashion with which they aren't comfortable, no matter how 'compassionately' the act is professed to be intended.

The fact remains that Travolta provides a significant amount of support to a group that still seems to try to "cure" homosexuality, as well as supporting the opposition to gay marriage and generally promoting the view that it is deviant behaviour.

He's welcome to see himself as deviant if he wants but when he spends money to try and convince others that they are as well, I think that reduces his entitlement to stay in the closet somewhat.

Agreed. It might be politically convenient, but gay & lesbian actors are still enduring homophobia & discrimination in show biz.

Actor Richard Chamberlain made news in 2010 when he encouraged gay actors NOT come out because of continuing discrimination. It's not as bad as a decade ago, but it still exists.
