I'm sure that by now you all have read one of the many spoof posts I have done about buying a TV offer cult startup success kit. I had no idea those bastards are actually doing it for real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pete
You can learn a lot from these guys, Pete. You are selling your startup kit for $19.99, but these guys are gonna have to kick at least 10% (maybe more) uplines forever. You should seriously rethink your pricing structure, because if your program produces even one decent cult leader you'll be able to retire.
On the other hand, a decent cult leader would know how to hide assets - even from you. So maybe I'm way off base here.

I am actually considering doing MAKING BIG MONEY IN THE CULT BUSINESS! as a satirical/spoof version of some of those horseshitistic TV offer courses. I can see doing it Don Lapre style. Don Lapre was the fellow who, back in 1990, ripped off a well thought out but poorly marketed TV offer course showing how to get finder's fees by tracking down those folks due a refund of some sort of insurance premium for those who at one time had FHA loans. He sold the shit out of that course. When that played out, he sold another course, telling his "secrets" for marketing the first course, which he started selling thru "tiny little classified ads." He then sold, as a follow-up to those who bought the second course, a deal where you could buy into one of his 900 number deals ... he made profit regardless, you took all the risk. Then he started a TV offer success kit selling some program where you could make money selling some sort of event reminder service. There was no money that anybody made providing the service, but Don made all sorts of money selling the "success" kits.
Anyways, I will admit ... I was moochified enough to get his second offer about "making big money thru tiny little ads." It was sparse on hard info but long on very simple illustrations, and was obviously targeted at those with a reading comprehension level right around what you might expect from Beavis and Butthead. MAKING BIG MONEY IN THE CULT BUSINESS! would be done in that style. It would have all manner of tips on how to brainwash, er, I mean spiritually condition recruits, what kind of person to recruit, where to recuit them, how to turn your now dedicated adherents into producing assets that thrive on a little rice and beans, almost no sleep, and plenty of indoctrination, how to develop cult doctrine, etc. Of course, along the way, I would poke fun at every cult and cult leader out there. Obviously, I would need a good illustrator who could do caricatures of various cult gurus and portray hypnotized culties as well. I can see a chapter on how to sell your own soul to you know who, who reaps the benefit of your trafficking in souls while you make the money. The the second to last chapter would be how to bow out gracefully before being jammed up with some sort of "imperial entanglement" by staging your own ascension. The last chapter, of course, would be all about your VERY warm welcome upon crossing the river Styx.
