Interesting research material. Was Hubbard born narcissistic? Was Kim Jong-un? The difference ... Hubbard created his position ... Jong-un was born in to it. Both of their regimes are unsettlingly similar.

    NORTH KOREA.

I made this comparison several years back, possibly on WWP. Perhaps I can "flesh out" the comparison here:

    1. Work long hours for little if any pay. All the money goes to the top.
    2. Dissent is punished severely and arbitrarily (RPF in COS, weekly self-criticism sessions and labor camps in N.K.)
    3. Worship, and never question, the kleptocrat leader (not just "the tech" in COS or socialism in N.K.).
    4. Many internal spies to ensure compliance.
    5. Human disease left untreated (cancer in SCN, starvation in N.K.)
    6. Propaganda focuses on imagined external enemies to stay "on a war footing" and deflect from bad conditions inside.
    7. Hubbard had narcissistic personality disorder and Kim Jong-Un has narcissistic personality disorder.
    8. Extreme difficulty in leaving.
    9. Whole families are punished for the tiniest "infraction" (disconnection in COS, labor camps in N.K.).
    10. Leader-worship permeates the workplace (WISE in COS) and may take precedence over actually providing goods and services that are needed keep the economy functioning. This happens in N.K. when loyal party flunkies are put into management positions.

    Enough said.

How Scientology and North Korea are different:

North Korea has a real army. Scientology has a fake Navy.

North Korea has real spies. Scientology has OSA and creepy PIs.

Scientologists don’t wear medals on their pants (yet).

North Koreans have real concentration camps. Scientologists only have double-wide trailers.

Scientologists are saving the world from nukes. North Koreans have nukes.

North Korea makes their own guns. Scientology has to buy their HK 91s and Springfield XPs.

North Korea executes people with anti-aircraft guns. Scientologists sec-check you to death.

Kim Jong-un’s wife was seen in public this year. David Miscavige’s wife was last seen in public in 2006.

“Will you walk into my parlour?” Would you like to take a Free Personality Test? said the Spider to the Fly,
    'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;
The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,
And I've a many curious things to show when you are there.”

“Oh no, no,” said the little Fly, “to ask me is in vain,
For who goes up your winding stair
    -can ne'er come down again.”

Whole poem can be seen at this link

Good poem and yes, it really DOES remind me of Scientology.

    Correction:
North Koreans have concentration camps. Scientologists (Sea Org only?) have the RPF.

Red face Re: Scientology reminds me of...

    Some more comparisons:

    11. Anyone's fall from grace can be very, very swift and dramatic. Jang Jin-Sung (kind of a "Poet Laureate" for N.K.) loaned a "forbidden" book to a friend and fled to China within hours to avoid execution (he later made it to South Korea). And superstar N.K. actress Woo In-Hee was in a Mercedes when a "favorite son" of the regime died of carbon monoxide poisoning. She was executed by firing squad with 6,000 people watching from bleachers. Scientology might not execute you, but when you fall into the RPF, or even "The Hole" (with screaming degradation) it might continue for years, or until you die. You will become just as much a non-person as someone "erased" from North Korea's history.

    12. Loyalists take great pride in having limited edition copies of the dear leader's books (in the CO$, special edition E-meters as well as books, in N.K., numbered books - the lower the number the more prestige the owner has).

    13. The dear leader cares very much about films, and the image that films convey. LRH and DM care very much about the training films (and who could forget Battlefield Earth). Kim Jong-Il decided to outsource his cinematic efforts by KIDNAPPING superstar leading-lady actress Choi Eun-Hee from Hong Kong, and then four years later, kidnapping her husband, the highly-awarded South Korean director Shin Sang-Ok, from Hong Kong, smuggling both into N.K. After some years, thankfully, they escaped (but not before Shin made "Pulgasari", which rivals Battlefield Earth in the world of really, really bad movies).
