There used to be a Refund Policy posted in the reception area of each org stating that if you were not completely satisfied, you could a[[ly for and receive a full refund of all monies paid. Is this still the case?

In the 1980's I assisted friends in recovering a very large sum of money in unused prepayments. As they were never going to be involved again, there were discussions about whether they should recover ALL monies paid. I left that decision to them to make for themselves. Some did, some didn't.

Some of you reading this will feel that the services you paid for were worth it. Well that is fine. Some of you will feel that what you received has damaged you. Some of you reading this couldn't give a flying f**k either way.

The point is that money in is, has been and always will be their primary stat.
If there are funds you have paid across, that you feel should be returned to you then I suggest you take a good look at how you can recover it.

Let us face it, none of us is ever going to become involved with them again. so why not take steps to get back what hjas been paid. I appreciate there is usually a statute of limitations, but there must be plenty out there who still qualify.

Take a look at those poor schmucks who made obscenely large donations. I bet right now that they are having second thoughts about it, now that the cult is under the hammer, globally.

I thought this might be a thread worth discussing.

I think ex staff members should add up all their hours and multiply by minimum wages for those years and ask to be recompensed for what they are due.

It's anathema to flow any power whatsoever to Corporate Church leadership.

I have a contact who helped me cut through all the BS, plus any considerations that have been brought up on this thread. I received back all the monies I had stashed on account for services I never received. It took me longer than it should have because I made the mistake of trying to reason with someone from Flag who called me on the phone. When I finally got fed up with the back and forth I told them I was going to every journalist I know and make sure the wrongdoings of the church get exposed. Exposing wrongdoings is not the same as making threats, so don't let them bedazzle you with their fancy verbal footwork. Best to first finish off your very sincere and thorough Doubt formula so you won't get the wobblies when they send you their mind-psych letters.

There are others who got back their IAS donations (through legal) and you can pm Tory Magoo about that. She stated that PrePaid Legal was helpful to her.

If anyone is considering to organize a Class Action legal action against the IAS, or The CofS Corporation, please pm me.

We flowed power to CofS because we fell for their tricks, flattery, lies, and otherwise preyed on our weaknesses. Once the lies are exposed nothing we signed is any longer valid.

Thanks for the data about the IAS. We can't even get a letter back from them or even acknowledged that our letters were received. We have PrePaid Legal, so that's a great solution - something like $40K or more went to the IAS.

However, after getting our refunds last year, the IRS came after us for our charitable contributions for 2005. We've sent them all the proof we have that they were legitimate donations. Still waiting to hear back from them. So, on our 2007 tax return we claimed our repayments as income. Really screwed us. Basically we're giving all buy $4,000 of our repayments to the IRS.

A lot of people don't claim their repayments/refunds on their tax returns, we just couldn't take the chance with already being in the crosshairs of the IRS.

We only get nasty letters back from Super Power for our request of return of donations.

As Tory said, you have to persist with PrePaid Legal until you find a lawyer who is willing to take on the CofS. I had to go through a few lawyers at PPL.

You are hitting them where it hurts, especially if word gets out and others follow your example.

In fact, I'm thinking of making a placard that says "I got my money back...and so can you"

I have recieved most of the money I had on account from asho and IAS.But just wondering if possible for fees paid to flag where service has been render for me to get my money from flag .Have you heard of anyone getting refunds under above circumstances and lawyer who represented them.

If you are just asking for money back that is sitting on account - not yet used - just write a letter requesting your money. If you are asking for a refund - you used the money for auditing, then that's a whole other ball of wax. And good luck to you.

I suppose they just don't like it when you ask for monies back. However, after "rattling their sabres", their only alternative is to write you a nasty letter to try and introvert you.

If enough people go after them on the basis that they want their money back, then they are the ones who will tail spin.

See, this is just WRONG!

You already PAID income tax on the 40k when you made it.

You then gave it to a fradulent "charitable organization" and took tax deductions on it.

You should NOT have to claim it as income again. You SHOULD amend the last 3 to 5 tax returns for you previous years to "unclaim" those deductions.

You will still owe, but it should not be as onerous as it currently appears.
Talk to a tax guy.
