Google is good, but a lot of work.

My dream would be for something like TruthAboutScientology.com's "completion list", which is in a row-and-column format, that's queryable -- where I enter a name and the results are returned -- even better if I can continue clicking forward to browse the database -- which is continually being improved. I wish a web site could authoritatively index published sources, such as newsletters they mail out. Then the site would have to deal with trolls trying to compromise it, and scientology lawsuits, as mentioned on the TruthAboutScientology.com homepage.

Default Front Groups for scientology.

I have wanted to know who the scientology "front groups" are in a city.
So I'd know who "not" to deal with. For example, suppose I wanted an
attorney to challenge the church of scientology -- well now I wouldn't
want a scientologist, would I? And I wouldn't expect an attorney to tell
me he was a scientologist, either. And I prefer not to have to ask them.
This method I'm going to present is not clear cut, but it's better than
simple googles.

I know I can google it. But this puts me to a lot of work, and there's
no way to know with any authority.

1. Visit -- MAPS.Google.com (be sure to preceed Google with MAPS).
2. I searched for the KNOWN nearby scientology addresses, such as;
... "1130 8th Ave S, Nashville, TN, 37203". (address of their ideal org).
... It turns out that a lot of businesses forward their mail to this org.
... I would expect that to only rarely be true.
3. At the bottom click on, "All businesses at this address".
4. It returned 37 listings. Are these front groups? Maybe.

Here are the 37 results for Nashville. Try some other addresses
around the world, and see what you come up with. And if you have
another method to determine scientology front groups, please
suggest them on this thread.

I guess the point is, if you have a business that accepts mail for
other businesses, do a MAPS.google.com on the address.

Those addresses are outdated. There used to be offices in that building before, I think.

For example the immigration law firm now has moved to:
631 2nd Avenue South
Suite 20

In some places, Scientologists are running businesses and private scams out of their orgs, contrary to CoS policy; each org also has a number of front groups like CCHR, Say no to drugs yes to life etc in accordance with policy; but to be so blatant as to register the address at the org is not something they usually do.

The funniest front group address I've seen was the Norwegian CCHR, which had a candy store as the registered address.

Yeah I can't see many businesses wanting to remain as a tenant in a building that was purchased by the cult. You'll end up spending most of your time telling them "No I don't want to take a personality test", or what ever it is they happen to call it these days.

Good point. Plus any clients that visited would get accosted also.

Yeah has to go over real well, asking a client if you can meet at their facility because your landlord will keep harassing them until they take a Personality Test and purchase a book, if they visit your facility.

I guess one could dream up the office location from hell, where one shared a building with The Inquisition, Jehovah's Witnesses, CofS, drug dealers, Ebola victims, and so forth. Great positioning example, CofS.

There are TWO (count 'em) TWO buildings on that parking lot. Click on this URL to see the NE corner of this satellite map:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...6&z=19&iwloc=A

You cannot use the Google "Orange Walking Man" to travel East on Chestnut ST, from 8TH AVE -- because Google has not filmed that street yet. Ergo you cannot see the building on the East.

The best "street level" view you can get of the Eastern building, is when you are headed Northbound on 8TH AVE, using Google's "orange walking man" view. Look East, but even then there's a big tree on the South side of the building. Here is the view I just described, you can just see a part of the 2-story Eastern building:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sour...45.01,,0,-0.87

I do not know the official street address per the US Post Office of these buildings, or even if the USPS treats them as two different delivery addresses. And I don't know how to find these addresses out. We do not know when one/theother/both of these buildings were purchased by the CoS.

Note that there is a US Post Office just across Chestnut ST from the CoS. You can see the post office, and a bunch of white delivery trucks in the top satellite photo above. I'm sure if somebody in Nashville paid the USPS a visit, they could find out the whole story; who's owned and occupied which businesses, and for how long, what the addresses are, etc. We'd love to hear it.

These buildings may have been "in the scientology family" for a long time, maybe not. There may have been office spaces leased out to businesses in one, or the other, building before. If so, and if they were owned by a scientology front business, it would be a safe guess that these are scientology businesses. Also note that none of the addresses in Maps.Google.com have unit numbers. It could also be that these businesses were using the address as a convenient place to receive mail, regardless of whether it conformed to scientology policy.

All we know is that, per Google Maps, 31 businesses (as of today, May 22, 2009) are listed there, it used be 37 addresses (on May 8, 2009) at which point I copied and pasted them into them in post #4 above, of this thread.

There are a lot of things we don't know. What we do know is, scientology fronts go to great lengths, in order to conceal their association with scientology. And if these 37 businesses are scientology, it's got to make them feel very uneasy.

I can only wonder why 6 addresses disappeared in the last 14 days. See the next post in this thread, it contains the 31 entries, frozen in time.

I wonder if anybody's checked the other addresses worldwide. Once again here's how:
1. Visit -- MAPS.Google.com (be sure to preceed Google with MAPS).
2. I searched for the KNOWN nearby scientology addresses, such as;
Are these scientology front groups? Maybe.
