Default Time out folks - time to take stock

It's been crazy.

The last two days, particularly in the land of Oz have been crazy. It's impossible to keep up with the media coming out. It's impossible to read all the posts and all the threads and know exactly what's going on.

I've given up trying.

When things like this are happening I try to go back to basics. Keep it simple. Work out what's important and what isn't.

I'm not trying to evaluate for anyone else here, but just give you my opinion on how to deal with this situation to make the most of it and not let it blow away while we smile in wonder at all the publicity.

Lets look at what's important:

1. Senator Xenophon has given his speech in parliament and requested a Senate enquiry. At this stage that's all it is - a request. It can be blocked or denied when the time comes for a vote. Yes there is a lot of repercussion from his speech, and a lot to get excited about, but we are by no means home yet.

2. Scientology will fight till the death. They will fight hard, and dirty and we know what they are capable of. They are a wounded beast and that is the most dangerous kind.

3. Only we (exes and clued up critics) can do provide the information that the Ferderal police, NSW police and the senator needs to make a full investigation into Scientology. Stuff either happened to us, was witnessed by us, or we know where to find the information. I don't know about you but it took me at least 12 months to read everything I could find on the net about Scientology. That was 9 years ago. There must be 100 times more information out there now. Sorting through it will be a massive task that we can make easier for the people that matter.

So here is my suggestion....

Take some time. Work out exactly what you want the Prime Minister, The leader of the opposition, the Senate and the Federal police etc to know. Decide what is important to you. Not everybody was coerced into having an abortion. Not everyone was made to work 18 hours a day on post and live on beans and rice. But you may have witnessed it. You might have been regged to the point of bankruptcy. You might have had disconnection forced on you. You might have felt you were lied to about abilities expected after a level and feel you've been defrauded.

To those who weren't in Scientology, what (besides Xenu) pisses you off. Why are you fighting this cult? What is wrong with it in your eyes? What have you read that is credible that caused you to fight and speak out?

I believe if we all do this. If we all just take the time and write real, person and heartfelt letters to the people that matter, that offer a lot of detail, a lot of factual information, backed up where possible by URLs, videos, documents etc, I believe we can give the politicians everything they need to make the right decision in parliament, and give the senate enquiry a huge headstart when that bill is passed.

You are absolutely right, that is exactly what we need to do now.

I am on exactly the same page Emma.

Emails have been sent. Drafts are being prepared. Word of mouth is letting my friends know and asking for their help. The ball is rolling, let's each lend our shoulder to make it reach the finish line where the atrocities can no longer take place.

Thank you so much for this board Emma.

At this time, the pollies who really need to get the message are:

The Prime Minister - Kevin Rudd
http://www.pm.gov.au/PM_Connect/Email_your_PM

The leader of the opposition - Malcolm Turnbull
http://www.aph.gov.au/house/members/member.asp?id=885

and Senator Eric Abetz - one who is in opposition to a Senate Inquiry
http://abetz.com.au/contact.php

Also cc Senator Xenophon, and if you're an Aussie, then email your federal member. See link for addresses Cherished provided:
http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthread.php?t=14756

There could be a vote on this in the Senate as early as Monday. The pollies won't be leaving it till Monday to make up their minds, so if you are intent on sending a message, please do so ASAP.

Thanks.

I'm gonna be doing my own BMO on the weekend if I can squeeze in the time.

Nicely put, Emms - and thanks for the gentle reminder, Gerry.
