Default Ken Urquhart Confirms LRH Deterioration

Ken Urquhart Confirms LRH Deterioration (Part 1):
Quote:
When I first knew L. Ron Hubbard and worked close to him, in the early 1960’s, he was almost unfailingly cheerful, up-beat, high-toned, positive, energetic, friendly, courteous, respectful, helpful, tolerant, considerate, kindly, firm, commanding, inclusive, open, purposeful, warm, and generous. I remained close to him physically or in the hierarchy until 1978. Over those years he changed profoundly. Over those years it never occurred to me that I had it in my power to influence how he developed; I never tried. Looking back on those years in which his behaviour deteriorated from what I had known it to be, it amazes me that it did not enter my head that I could point out to him that instead of blowing up at people he could use TRs, he could consider putting in his own rudiments (including Similar Overt of Your Own? MWH? What part of this situation are you responsible for? Etc., etc.) on the occasions when I would have thought about those things with some other person. To this extent, again, I contributed to a deterioration that led, in time, to the miseries the established church enforced on the three young women who are now speaking out, and on many other children and adults in that group who deserved much better. Would it have made any difference, if I had challenged LRH as I now think (in hindsight) I should have done? He would for sure have blown me off without hesitation, giving me no opportunity to speak my mind in that way ever again. But he would have thought about it; he would have recognized that objective eyes could be watching him, and in the quiet of his own cabin, he would have reflected on his behaviour. Who knows how this would have affected how he then charted his course. I think it’s unlikely that I could have substantially changed him. At any rate, I do regret that I did not take him on as I could have and really should have.
Ken Urquhart Confirms LRH Deterioration (Part 2):
Quote:
In the mid-seventies, [LRH] changed his direction, and I could not follow him. I have written of this in detail elsewhere, and plan to add that material to this site. In due course I went over to the technical delivery side of the organization, giving auditing sessions. I trained on the highest levels of the technology then available. In 1982, realizing that the organization was becoming more and more autocratic and commercial, less and less in touch with a planet it was founded to actually help (not only that, but increasingly contemptuous of the world outside of Scientology), I decided to leave. As I was quietly leaving, the then management (some of which is still in place), kicked me out noisily and unpleasantly. In fact, a senior person spat in my face. This was the climax of my years of service. What began as an ideal had become a nightmare. I last saw LRH in 1975, when he left Clearwater, Florida, for Washington, DC, and then for California. I was no longer a trusted confidante of his: I could not nor would not be the kind of goon that he grew to want his assistants to be. His very last words to me were: “You’re too much of a gentleman.” For him, as he was at that time, it was a serious reproach; he was repudiating me. I did not feel guilty about it, not one whit. I refused to follow him to California and in due course lost my position as his Personal Communicator. I was not sorry.

This is very important.

I'm glad that you are highlighting this, Kha Khan.

I don't know how many confirmations we need from eye-witnesses around LRH before we can finally conclude what we need to conclude, but I guess, quite a few.

After seeking to shift the personalities of everyone who came to follow him, LRH's personality underwent a huge shift.

La-de-da.

Thank you.

An excerpt from my observation on WWP:
Quote:
From reading a lot of Scientology and Scientology history (both inside and outside the COS), I'm sure that Hubbard was amoral, immoral, completely self-centered, totally selfish and, well, evil, from the very beginning.

I think that in the beginning he was better (but never completely) able to effectively pretend to be "normal," nice, friendly, caring, etc., when it suited his purposes. Many psychopaths have the ability to know what society expects from them, and to give it (or pretend to give it) as necessary or advantageous.

It appears from many accounts that he lost that ability over time.

At some point he clearly became delusional, but I'm not sure when. I don't think he was delusional from the very start. Don't get me wrong. He always spouted bullshit. But in the beginning he knew it was bullshit. He knew it was a con. At some point he started believing his own bullshit, and became delusional. At some point (perhaps the same point, perhaps earlier or later), he lost his ability to effectively pretend to be "normal," nice, friendly, caring, etc., when it suited his purposes.

Several have commented over the years that LRH sounded caved in on RJ 67. I haven't re-listened to it though.
