How about the Hilter role? :) Tom, control freak, Cruise wouldn't have to act very much.

Tom Cruise Will Star In Bryan Singer's Hitler Assassination Thriller

Tom Cruise has been alienating a lot of people lately, so what better way to get on their good side than by trying to kill Hitler? Production begins this summer on an untitled World War II thriller, starring Cruise and directed by Bryan Singer. The film will be based on actual events, and is said to be about German generals who hatch a scheme to assassinate Hitler at the height of WWII.

Cruise and Paula Wagner (who looks like she's blowing up a building with her mind in her imdb photo), recently took over the re-launched United Artists, and they've got a pretty smart strategy for turning the studio around: Have Cruise star in everything!

This is the second film "The New UA" has announced that Cruise will appear in, the other being Lions for Lambs, in which he stars with Meryl Streep and Robert Redford, who will also direct. Wagner says "After reading the script, Tom and I knew immediately that this was a film we had to make. As an added bonus, because of Bryan Singer's involvement and Tom's admiration for him as a filmmaker, as well as the excellence of the script, the project attracted Tom as an actor. I cannot think of a more perfect combination of creative elements for our second production."

All that is known about what part Cruise will be playing is that it is a "central role."
After Cruise's brogue in Far and Away, here's hoping he's not playing a German. Accents don't seem to be a strong suit of his.

Singer is said to have just enough time to fit this in before beginning production on the sequel to Superman Returns (The Return of Superman Returns?), which may or may not happen anyway. Gotta say, this movie sounds like it could be very cool, and I for one am thrilled to see Singer getting away from superheroes.

And great news for you Keyser Soze fans, the thriller will be Singer's reunion with Usual Suspects writer Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote the script with Nathan Alexander.

The Help Tom Cruise Contest

Tom Cruise announced yesterday that he will star in a new film -- based on actual events -- about a plan to assassinate Adolf Hitler. However, the film as yet does not have a title.

Thus, we're giving away a DVD of Harsh Times, starring Christian Bale (who starred in Batman Begins with Katie Holmes -- hence the connection) to the person who can come up with the best title for Cruise's upcoming cinematic venture.

About Harsh Times
The film marks the directorial debut of writer David Ayer (Training Day, The Fast And The Furious) and features a chilling, tour-de-force performance from Christian Bale (Batman Begins, The Prestige) as a trained killer in an explosive world of guns and drugs, loyalty and revenge. Set against the urban backdrop of South Central Los Angeles, the Harsh Times features powerhouse performances from its supporting cast, including Eva Longoria (The Sentinel, "Desperate Housewives") and Freddy Rodriguez (Bobby, "Six Feet Under"). The DVD includes seven deleted scenes and feature commentary by writer, producer, director David Ayer.
Synopsis
Returning to South Central Los Angeles, Bale stars as a ex-Middle East soldier who struggles to re-enter civilian society and, unable to get a job with the LAPD, drifts into a life of petty crime, drugs, and violence.

How many times did I hear the question: if you had been alive during the Third Reich, and you had a chance to kill Hitler, wouldn't it have been an overt of ommission not to do so?

It was used to soften up a person's moral judgement concerning the Greatest Good for the Cult ... and therefore mankind. Cruise is no doubt trying to demonstrate this principle, while playing the hero.

Unless they type cast him as the Fuhrer hisself.

LOL....he'd fit the part....not only because he's short. CO$ also tries to connect Psychs and Psychiatry to the Nazis too.

Someone suggested that Davy Miscavige should play Hitler.....now that would be a hoot, wouldn't it?
