Sounds like it's coming out soon:

Escaping Scientology: An Insider's True Story (Hardcover)
    by Karen Schless Pressley (Author)

I'm sure DM is putting Peter Schless through hell over this.

The 'way out' *is* the 'way through'.

    ...and the nearest door.

The only *consistent* product of Scientology is 'ex scientologists'

    Yeah I bet he is.

Gawd with the book and with Panorama about to nibble their backsides it is shaping up to be a rough month.

I remember that she posted about this book that she was writing.

I am glad that it is finally going to be published.

I will buy a copy when it is available.

I worked with Karen a couple times when she was on staff at CC. It's good to know that she got herself published.

I pre-ordered mine. Good for stats...

You have to give Karen credit, she does manage to profit from it all every which way.

When she and Peter split, because he had to disconnect, she got just about everything he had worked for his whole life, to get her off his lines. Even though they had only been married a few years.

That was a long time ago, guess that fizzled out in today's economy.

It was her successful action to profit as a result of her connections with Scientology.

Now she is publishing this and once again will laugh all the way to the bank.

    That's a true Matey Pirate!

And she has all of my applause!

Now CofS is going to be keeping tabs on Karen (and following her if they deem necessary) if they aren't already. It will smack of an FBI op.

But I would guess that she already knew this when she decided to write the book.

(BTW, I'd like to see the FBI shut-down the OSA as a result of some major investigations... but I'm not holding my breath.)

Yep, at least she's actually making money, instead of spending it on the CoS.

Exactly Kilia! So what if she makes some money out of it. I dont know if she wrote it for personal gains or to help heal herself and help others in the process (I would believe the last one is the right one).

Most exes write for personal healing and help others. Also, knowing the trouble she can get in doing that, knowing how management from $cientology will treat her, it takes a heck of a lot of guts doing that.

Lets see before jumping to conclusion.

sorry guys. I wanted to use that smiley for quite awhile.

Hey, she may be another one able to think with the Dianetics jingle:

"Take the motion that comes in and use it to win".

She has a god given right to that.

I will probably read her book, and I do not know her, but I have a problem with Christianity. Maybe I believe some of what elron wrote about it being whole track dramatization. I think to be talking about Gods Love, and Jesus after watching the PBS series on the Inquisition, it's all too much. Mick, I think you are right. This week must have been exhausting for OSA. I'm pretty tuckered out myself! It's actually a relief to see the buzz from Panorama drying up. As for Karen, Int quals? what a joke! just proves those Int quals go out the window when you are married to a celeb.

I remember back when I was getting into Scientology, knowing about Chrisitanity's past, like the Inquisition, was one of the reasons I got into Scientology: it was going to be different than other religions and their abuses.

    Imagine that.

I'm wondering if this book has been delayed for some reason. Amazon has a pub date of April 30, 2007, on their page for it, but it is apparently still not available. The publisher is supposed to be New Hope Publishers, but when I go to their website, I can't find any mention of the book anywhere there. (I looked at both their author list and their page of books scheduled to come out in April and May, and I also searched their store.)

A couple of weeks ago I tried writing to Karen at the e-mail address I found on her website. I asked if she knew what date the book would be released. I haven't gotten a response, though.

I ordered it from overstock.com and it never came. I think the publication may have been delayed.

    From their contact page:

Maybe someone in the US could call that 800 number.

How much do you want to bet the church somehow managed to stop the publication of this book?

The church seems to be obsessed with stopping books and movies about Scientology.

In my opinion, they place too much significance on them.

Most people these days don't read.

And there is so much in the way of homemade movies and small independent films out there (thanks to YouTube, for one), films like The Bridge would have probably pretty much been overlooked or ignored by the mainstream population.

This kind of stuff, IMO, is in the "singing to the choir" category. The people who pay attention to them are people who are already critics.

Mainstream stuff like South Park, Tom Cruise and other Scientology celebs are in a different category.

COS creates a lot of its own problems by attacking things that would, in all likelihood, sink into obscurity by themselves if they would just ignore them.

I know it's much more fun to speculate endlessly, but maybe someone in the US could CALL THAT FREE 800 NUMBER three posts back and ask them??????

Actually, I'd be happy to call and ask; I just keep forgetting to do it! :duh: I suppose I may also be slightly dissuaded by all the calls I've made to businesses that have resulted in my slogging through voicemail menus until I started yelling "I WANT TO TALK TO A PERSON" into the receiver. But I do want to at least give it a try. I'll send myself an e-mail at work so I'll have a reminder waiting for me on Monday.

Okay, the news is not good. I called New Hope today and actually spoke to a real person right away. She told me that they are no longer planning to publish the book. She attributed the decision to "delays." I asked if that could mean that the book would come out later, and she said that no, as of now there are no plans to publish it. I then asked her if the decision had anything to do with pressure from the Church of Scientology and she said she didn't know.
