So sad - I loved his songs - suzanne - bird on a wire etc. He was a scio for a short while. I had his e meter and a pair of cowboy boots he left behind when he left NYC in the 60's

    So very sad. Mimsey

    Note to the moderators,

You realize he was a scientologist for a while? Why was this moved to the members only area? The first song, Famous blue rain coat asks a girl if she went clear - Tony Ortega is going to do a big post about him tomorrow - please take this out of the members only area. If anything, it should have it's own memorial thread.

Oh man - I didn't post this for nothing - many many people love his music. He was an inspiration - and fittingly enough - an ex scientologist.

    Thanks Mimsey

Leonard Cohen - what can you say? (I'll probably think of something soon.)

It's not well known that Leonard was (briefly) a Scientologist. Here's a song he wrote at the NY Org one night (according to Pilot). I think the words are great too.

    Oh no.

I was playing one of his CD's in my car earlier today ... I had no idea till I got home that he had died.

    So sad.

RIP Leonard ... you were born with the gift of a golden voice.

It seems that the music video threads don't show up in New Posts? I posted a couple of Leonard's songs there (not knowing of this thread) if anybody wants to have a listen.

    Re: Leonard Cohen passed today

There's an oblique reference to Scientology in Everybody Knows.

Leonard Cohen narrates a documentary on The Tibetan Book of the Dead:

They're moving us tomorrow to that tower down the track
But you'll be hearing from me baby, long after I'm gone
I'll be speaking to you sweetly
From a window in the Tower of Song" - Leonard Cohen

    Thank you, goodbye & RIP.

You may have seen Tony Ortega's article about Leonard Cohen passing away - he was a Scientologist for a while. He was getting auditing at the New York Org - I think they even delivered his power processing there. My brother moved into his apartment after he left town in the 60's, and gave me his cowboy boots and e-meter. It was a white British MK V. I had the meter for a quite few years and like a fool, when I was living in LA, I sent it to Gold to be refurbished. They took off the original British tone arm counter - I was so pissed. My daughter borrowed it to use on course, forgot it at the org one day and I never saw it again. All I had left was the meter case which I sold on e-bay. The boots were a bit tight, but I wore them anyway, never having had cowboy boots. Eventually I had worn the heels off them on the NYC concrete and tossed them.

I wish I had met him when I was on staff at NYO, but it wasn't to be.

About the photo in Tony's blog - when Scientology had it's NY Org operating in the hotel Martinique, it was situated in the large central ball room. The ball room was a large room that had an accordion wall down the middle, an mirrors on the other walls. The academy was on one side of the accordion wall, and letter reg, central files, addresso, purchasing, etc was on the other. They would slide the accordion back after hours for bulk mailings etc. but mostly it was kept closed.

Looking at the photo - you can see the accordion wall which almost looks like drapery.
So, for my money, that's where it was taken.
