GT: I hear ya! And it also took me a Loooooong time to be able to really deeply sleep, too!
I went to my OB/GYN for symptoms of Adrenal Fatigue, Insomnia, etc. and she suggested hysterectomy and offered to put me on Prozac!?!
I quit going to her, needless to say.
Since then, I've studied on my own about the neuroendocrine systems and this is what I learned.
I will give you some suggestions that helped ME
(I am NOT a doctor, so please check with your health care professionals BEFORE you take ANY of my suggestions.)
Adrenal Restoration Regimen. Take for minumum of 90 days:
DHEA spray (Biosom): women: 1-2 sprays at night, if needed, one spray in morning.
(Skip the the morning dose, if you feel nervous from it. Only take the bedtime dose).
Men: 2-4 sprays at night, if needed, 1-2 sprays in morning.
(Skip the morning dose if feel nervous from it)
Daily Adrenal Restoration Supplements:
Pregnenalone: 500 mcg to 1 mg. 2x day
Biotin: 2000 mcg. 2x day
B5 (Pantothenic Acid): 500 mg. 2x day
B6 (Pyridoxine): 50 mg. 2x day
Elemental Zinc: 10 mg. 2x day
Copper: 1 mg. 2x day
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid): 1000 mg. (or more) 2x day
Free Form Bioflavonoids: 500 mg. 2x day
Adrenal insufficiency/ DHEA deficiency symptoms:
Symptoms of DHEA deficiency may include:
Persistent/extreme fatigue
Depression
Anxiety
Insomnia/inability to FALL asleep
Hypersensitivity to noise/light
Loss of libido
Dry eyes, skin, and hair
Loss of head hair, axial (armpit) hair, and/or pubic hair
Insomnia help for women:
.5 to 1 mg of Melatonin sublingual is best 1 hr before bedtime.
(I take my Melotonin with the 2 sprays of DHEA spray, and a tiny dab of a natural Progesterone cream.
I now fall deeply and easily asleep every single night! )
But that's what works for ME, do NOT try adding the DHEA or natural Progesterone cream without getting tested for lack of those things, FIRST!!).
Insomnia/Anxiety help for women and men:
500 mg of L-Tryptophan right before dinner, then take 500 to 1000 mg of L-Tryptophan at bedtime.
(This is a very natural, but potent serotonin booster, which is needed to help your sleep quality).
