I'm so glad Canadians got to see this! Is there any media coverage of it online? Any links?

GZ, It will also create some impact on your neighbors to the South. Many Canadians will soon be heading down here to Florida and other destinations to escape the winter up there.

(laughing)Yeah, every other person from Montreal heads south for the Winter. We are called "snowbirds" by the southern Yanks. Then again, having ever seen a Montreal (or Ottawa/Calgary/others) winter then you would understand. Many of the population of Montreal goes underground (extensive subway commercial development) during the winter. Many also head south for warmer climes. Some areas of Florida are so French Canadian that someone suggested using ARRÊT instead of STOP on the local stop signs. Ha ha. :confused2:  :wink2:

Which areas would those be? :confused2:

In Palm Beach county there are several communities that are mostly or a high percentage of Canadian snowbirds. There are many living in a town called "Atlantis" in the winter and also some other less affluent areas in Boynton Beach.

The French thing is pretty confusing because as Floridians we all thought we had to learn to speak Espanol and then the Canadian snowbirds and the Hatian immigrants threw us a par le vous.:confused2:

Snowbirds are welcome in Tampa Bay. Our economy, and business, is dramatically higher November to April when ya'll come on down heah. Bring your checkbook, now! Right about Thanksgiving, when that temperature starts to dive, Florida is just getting comfortable. No snow, no ice, overnight lows in the 40's and 50's, ahhhh. Unfortunately, our homeless population also skyrockets!

Your homeless population increases when we come down to visit? :confused2:

Overnight lows in the 40'3 & 50's??? Beats the Hell out of 30 below not even including the wind chill factor!

Montrealers are the smart ones: they have built up their subway system into a gigantic, much warmer winter hive of stores, restaurants and many access points links to the "topside" businesses and places of entertainment. They go "underground" for the winter. Smart cookies!
