Every once in a while I'll have a question, sometimes it's silly, and I feel stupid starting a new thread for each of them.

So, first, what is FSM and are any of you to the point where when you see FSM you think Flying Spaghetti Monster? Because when I see FSM that's the only thing I think of, and it makes me hungry.

:roflmao: Flying Spaghetti monster! Love it!

An FSM is a Field Staff Member -- they recruit people for training and processing and then get a percentage of the course or auditing fees the person pays. It's like a commission on referrals. You don't have to be a staff member -- I was public and considered an "FSM"

But from here on out I'll think of Flying Spaghetti monster because it's way more fun!!

I used to think that it stood for "Flying Spaghetti Monster"

Now I realize it's just getting 10% commission on ruining other's lives.

I'll take a shot at it...

FSM = "Field Staff Member". A person who receives a commission (normally 10%, or was) of the amount paid to the CoS by the person the FSM "Routes In" for "Regging" (heavy sales pressure from the registrar) for courses/training, auditing - and I think for "donos" (donations not attached to a specific "service" or produce. Scientologists also get (or used to get) commissions on books and e-meters and shit they sell/sold.

Ethics Particles (like me for instance) are forever being "routed" to the "MAA" (Master at Arms) who is an "Ethics Specialist" (or some such shit) for "handling" of some perceived "Outness" (infraction) by thought, word or deed against the "group" and its busy pursuit of "clearing the planet"...

Oh hell, fergit wooda hadda ben there ta rilly, rilly "Get It" of "Duplicate" my "Comm"...know what I mean guy?:whistling: :melodramatic: :coolwink:

It is notable that volcanos play an important role in both Scientology and FSM theology. Pastafarians (worshipers of the FSM) believe that in heaven, there is a beer volcano. (There's one in hell, too, but the beer is stale.)

For the record, "FSM's" weren't staff members, although staff members could and would "FSM" (when they did, their commissions went to staff pay, or were supposed to). And, there were two types of FSM's.

There were those who thought Scn was a good thing, and introduced others to it. They used to get 10% commission on auditing, and 15% commission on training that their 'selectees' bought. From my experience, those who introduced people to Scn, could only do it when they believed in it.

Then there was another type. The types who worked with the registrars, at selling people the 'high end' of the bridge. Some of these types (many who were OT umpty dump), were just in it for the money - they used their 'opinion leader' 'status', to get people already on lines to convince people to pay big money for the upper levels, L's and things.

Many of them were just 'reg'es' (not fsm's). They weren't on staff or SO crew - they were people who the reg'es would use to 'tag' on a reg cycle. Often with these cats, there was little regard for what was 'good' for the person - it was more about what was good for the org (money in the bank).

An "FSM" per definition, would have been someone who would have put the person's interests at heart. Often, the reg'es would by-pass fsm's who did this, 'cause they didn't get what they wanted. They'd get one of these 'other' big shot FSM's in, to help do the trick.

Per FSM policy, if one's selectee was on lines, then FSM commissions could only be paid to the FSM who got them on lines. However, when it came to these "big guns" (public reg'es, 'not' FSM's), these cats got the commissions, and the org would turn a blind eye to it, 'cause they wanted these guys on side so they could keep getting the bucks. It was a real scam that stuck out like dogs balls - one separate to the overall 'scam' of the CofS.

FSM = slave working for COS, receiving a portion of funds paid by their friends for imaginary benefits. = dupe who is duping others = person who imagines they are freeof the chains they see on SO and staff but who, in fact have these tendrils of control woven through their every thought and who are committing acts of harm to every person they "introduce" to the cult = apparently free human who walks around looking down at all the "raw meat" surveying them for potential to be "saved" form their own initiative, purposes and such and indoctrinated into giving their lives to the now dead and rotting evil monster who started this whole thing.

FSM = someone who believes they are offering the very certainty of imortality and super powers

As a note on my oh so cynical outpouring, when I was in, there was often a great deal of trouble making sure the FSMs got their commissions, they were regged back or they were asked to donate them back because the orgs were strapped, or they were made to feel as if they were taking bread from the starving mouths of the orgs as soon as the check was cashed.

At one point I selected my ex-husband onto service at Flag. Since another Power FSM (big-wig FSM, has selected 100s if not 1000s of people for service) had years prior put in a selection slip (request for commission on services paid for and started). There was a board of review as to who should get the commission. I had to fight tooth and nail to get that commission. But I got it.

Later when my ex went to the Ship, I basically had to right a report to the FSM I/C at Int to get my commission. It cost me more in time and effort than the commission was worth.

The paying out of commissions got slower and slower as the years went on. I wonder if anyone is getting commissions anymore? :confused2:

another question. what is an mu? I couldn't find it in any of the vairous scientology guides (including grundy's) but I might just be stupid.

All I know is that it isn't the greek letter mu, which often stands for micro :)

it's "misunderstood word" but I'm going to let someone else explain the significance of it because I liked reading everyone else's explanations on the last one so much . . .

"mu" - a misunderstood word, and it also refers to an incorrect concept or meaning of a word.

Scn'ists are VERY fond of acronyms. "CI" for counterintention, MU for misunderstood, bpc for bypassed charge. Lots of 'em.

That's making everybody a commission-based Scientology salesman. Gets pretty nuts when they get appointed by IAS monkeys to sell each other lifetime memberships. Kinda like setting up the kids to play nicely in the sandbox together.

Could also be defined as a little "imaginary friend" strung along by registrars appearing to have your best interests at heart. And you wonder why they natter the most when they get regged ... lol

    This questions is less silly.

Did you vote in your local elections (assuming you lived in a country that has them) while in the cult? Did you vote before you joined? After you joined? After you left?

If you've voted, did you stop voting sometime after you joined the church? If so, why?

It would seem to me that the stance of the church on politics would be the same as the stance of the church on the rest of the wog world, whatever that may be, and most scientologists and/or scientology in general wouldn't care who got elected. Unless the person running is a scientologist.

Since no one wanted to answer that last one, I'll move on to the next one.

This I've looked up in at least 3 different places.

    What is A to E?

A-E are the steps that you have to do if you remain brainwashed after getting declared Suppressive.... :whistling:

Basically a series of steps that you have to do to get back into "good standing" with Scn.

A being that you are told by someone to stop "being suppressive"

B you have to give some kind of public announcement that you have "realized" that you were suppressive. Basically you are bad, COS is good.

B1 - if you owe money to any org (ie. a Freeloader bill) you have to pay those debts off

B2 - You have to "make amends", doing things such as spending more money on Scn (but not for yourself).

C -- You have to go back and re-do the beginning courses/training that you did in Scn. Basically pay for those things again.

D - Put papers together showing you did those things

E- Send to the International Justice Chief.

    Woooohooo :happydance: :melodramatic:
