October 3, 2012 - Lucas Catton told Flesicher he knows the Narconon drug treatment program better than almost anyone. He went through it as a student, and then rose to be become president of the Flagship Arrowhead facility in Oklahoma. "Is it what it pretends to be? Absolutely not," said Catton. "Narconon is, essentially it is Scientology."

    October 3, 2012 -

Channel 2 Action News has already noticed a change to Narconon International's website since an investigation exposed the organization advertising its Georgia program as a long-term residential facility. Now the wording has been altered and does not indicate which type of facility it is.

Cook said he would consider asking legislators to include drug rehab facilities in last year's expansion of Georgia law toughening regulations on nursing homes.

OK Legislator asks for more oversight (Narconon Arrowhead)

    Legislator asks for more oversight
    *scroll down to 4th story

A local lawmaker disturbed by suspicious practices of a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in his county of Pittsburg plans to eliminate a loophole which allowed centers deemed “nonmedical” to operate without any state oversight.
In response to the recent deaths at Narconon Arrowheard, recently Rep. Brian Renegar, D-McAlester, requested the House of Representatives legal staff to draft legislation to require that nonmedical treatment centers must receive oversight and certification from the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

    Pending Legislation Could Close "Loophole"
Talks set for Monday about lack of state oversight at "non-medical" rehabilitation centers.
    Calvin Wright, KTOK News

State Representative Brian Renegar of McAlester says he's planning on Monday to discuss pending legislation with Senator Tom Ivester of Sayre, about treatment practices at the Narconon Arrowhead drug rehab center.

Renegar said seven people have died at the center in recent years, and he's concerned about a legal loophole which allows some centers deemed as "non-medical" to operate without oversight by the state.

"We're going to visit with the Department of Mental Health about some of our concerns," Renegar told KTOK. "I was most concerned about them not doing normal blood work on individuals coming in there," Renegar said. He said he understands the facility only does urine screenings. "They don't check the liver or kidney functions. They don't do any blood work at all," Renegar said. "They don't even check for hepatitis. I would be very concerened about sending a loved one to a facility and them having a roommate who has hepatitis," Renegar said.

Renegar said he has not yet spoken directly with representatives of the Narconon Arrowhead facility.

Renegar is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He owns the Renegar Animal Hospital in McAlester.

Thanks, there was so much more said that I wish could have been used, but they cut it the way they saw fit for their story and timeline. We talked for hours. Hopefully the Atlanta Journal-Constitution article out in Sunday's paper will have more of that information.

Also, it is my understanding that Pete Combs might have a 13-minute wrap-up segment on WSB Radio Sunday morning as well.

I give all the credit though to the Desmond family, Jeff Harris and his team, the people over at The Tipping Point for their relentless pursuit of this, and the WSB/AJC reporters for their work.

How much proof do reporters need that Narconon is a Scientology front group?
Scientology's drug rehab program, Narconon, continues to be mired in controversy over patient deaths and government investigations. But as that goes on and on, why are there still reporters and news organizations that seem nervous about explaining that Narconon is, first and foremost, an arm of Scientology? We take a look at the facts.

Scientology's Georgia drug rehab hit with double-barreled media onslaught
Narconon's nightmarish year continues as a remarkable media firestorm has started in Atlanta. We wrote earlier about Patrick Desmond's 2008 death and his family's lawsuit this summer, and were outraged by some of the deceptive Scientology practices outlined in court documents. Now, a coordinated expose by local radio and television is exploding this story in a remarkable way.

She looks a hell of a lot less skilled in BS than some scientologists I've seen on camera.
I think she is going to be mincemeat before long. I also think that her seniors are trying to throw her under the bus, from reading depositions. However, the Lawyers are making sure that it is 1000 000% clear, and on record, how NN is run on a daily basis by the COS.

Maybe, the COS is the only thing she can hang onto in her life. Her ex-husband, Ray, and daughter, Joscelyn, are out of the cult & raising families of their own. Except for listing her mother as a FB friend, Joscelyn has photos in her album talking about the wonderful & loving relationship she has with her father, stepmother & half-sisters.

Nothing said about her biological mother, who's gone into debt defending her beloved cult.
