He started the religion after the booksales of dianetics plumeted. At some point he actually sold the rights to Dianetics and such.

Later he got it back again. I geuss it was of no use to the owner he sold it to

What drove him mad was that he could never measure up to his own claims and he knew that. It was vey smart of him that he could take all the works of others as his own because ofthe bussiness set up.
