I like Bill Maher, but his dislike of religion inevitably causes him to place any discussion of Scientology in the context of religion.

Scientology doesn't like being ridiculed but, if it has to be ridiculed, it much prefers to be ridiculed as a religion, than as a ruthless business, practicing psychology, collecting blackmail-able information, and using religion, fraudulently, as a protective cloak.

I think Lawrence got in some excellent points in the short time he was on. The xenu story and the existence of the 'hole' expose a couple of the crazier aspects of the cult.

And of course more publicity for the documentary is always good.

I thought that Bill Maher did both; he ridiculed the religious belief and
the behavior together. I thought it was hysterical.

Like you, I am respectful of religion, but I don't respect Scientology.

Yeah, Maher can be offensive, but he is right out front with it. Everyone knows what they are going to get when they turn him on. And one can turn him off.
Some folks love this guy, and this is what they saw ! So much exposed !
